The Twist Of Fate

Ch.2 The Carnival

"Did you see that?" Harper asked.

"See what?" I asked sarcastically.

"Someone's in love!" She said.

"Who's in love?" Nathan asked as he sat in the seat next to me.

"You and Roxanne!" Harper said.

I blushed while he said "Of course we are!"

I looked over at him looking very puzzled. Then all of a sudden he reached over and kissed my cheek.

"Uh? What do you think you're doing?" I asked startled. Scooting away from him.

He just smiled and sat there. Waiting for Jane to get into the car and go to the carnival.

*five minutes later*

We're headed back to Eudora. Now in the car we have: Ethan, Nathan, Harper, Jack, Carlos, and me. Jack and Carlos are some of Ethan's other friends.

I could feel Nathan's eyes focussing on me. I won't give into him. I'm very good at not giving into things. I learned at a young age to never give in. We arrive in Eudora after a short amount of time. Harper and I jump out of the car and sprint up Main Street to the carnival to meet my other friends, Michael, JoAnna, Nicole, and Noah. Noah and I used to date. He's a year younger than the rest of us and also Harpers cousin. But him and I are best friends now. He's like a brother to me. We get our tickets and ride some rides. After about an hour or so, I see Nathan staring at me. I ignore his stare, and continue talking to JoAnna and Nicole.

Soon after I see him staring at me once again, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I look at JoAnna and

Nicole's faces, they were in total shock! They both had wide eyes and their mouths dropped ten feet! There gaze was looking up. In their eyes I saw blonde hair. Oh no.

I turned around to see the one and only, Nathan.

"Hello again." He said with a generous smile.

"Nicole and JoAnna, this is Nathan. One of Ethan's friends." I told them.

"It's an honor." he said, shaking their hands.

Damn, he's good.

"I was wondering if you would ride the Ferris wheel with me." he said.

"She'd love to!" JoAnna answered for me.

I followed him to the line. We stood in silence. I watched his eyes trail up and down my body. Which made me shift back and forth. We didn't talk until we were at the very top.

"So you live here is what I heard from Ethan." He said.

"Yes, you are correct." I said.

"Well it is a nice little town."

"Ha, thanks! I grew up here. I love this town more than anything."

We got to talking about our love in old music and old movies. It turned out that we shared a lot of similarities in a lot of things that we like.

As soon as we got off, I said my good byes to my friends and we headed back to Harpers house. We dropped Jack and Carlos off at their houses. The rest of the night was spent watching movies on Netflix and eating popcorn. I can admit that it was one of the best nights ever.

Or so I thought.....
