This is kind of a thorki-fic, but like a brotherly fic. It takes place during the winter in Asgard when Thor and Loki were still kids. Thor is like 1200 years, which is about 12 in human years, and Loki is about 1000 years, which is about 10 in human years. And, of course, there's going to be jotun!loki. Heh :)
"Loki wait up!" Thor said as he run after his little brother, snow falling onto his golden hair. The two princes were down at the market, playing fetch with Thor's friends; Sif, Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg. Loki was the last one free, so all of the other kids were chasing him, trying to catch up to him. But even though Loki was the youngest, Loki was also the fastest, able to run away from all of them. And even for a small boy he vas very clever and cunning, and he used his wit to his advantaged.
"You'll never catch me, Thor! I'm faster than you!" Loki shouted over his shoulder as he ran.
"But I'm older and stronger, Little Brother, so It dosen't matter if you can run faster, because I can run longer! I just have to wait for you to get tired!" said Thor. Loki just laughed, and kept on running. As he disappeared behind a house, Thor's friends caught up to him and they all slowed down.
"We won't be able to catch him, Loki is the fastest kid in the entire realm." declared Sif. The others knew she was right.
"But if we could out run him. I mean, make him run and run until he can't run anymore?" tried Fandral.
"That could work, if we can manage running for that long." said Volstagg, looking down at his slightly larger belly.
"Of course we can! My friends, we are the Warriors three! We can win over anyone!" smiled Thor joyfully. Sif cleared her throat. "And the wonderful Lady Sif, who can best anyone and everyone!" Thor quickly said, making Sif smile.
Suddenly, a blood-curling scream was heard. It sounded like it came from the Frozen Lake inte middle of the market.
"What was that?" Hogun asked. The scream sounded again.
"I do not know, but it came from the Lake!" said Thor, and all five of them started to run towards the sound.
The sight that met them was not what they had expected. The frozen lake had a hole in it's ice, and beside the lake was Loki. His clothes and hair were dripping wet, and he was shaking. He had lost his gloves, and his hands and lips were blue from the cold.
"He fell through the ice!" someone screamed, pointing towards the hole.
"I...I tried to run across it...but the ice broke..." Loki stammered. And before everyone's eyes, the blue from his hands started to crawl it's way up his arms, turning his skin a cerulian shade. Loki looked down at his hands, staring at them in horror.
Thor reached for him, but Fandral held him back.
"What are you doing, my friend? Can't you see that my Brother needs my help?" Thor explained confused.
"Wait, Thor. Watch." answered Fandral, and Thor did as he said. They watched as blue overtook pink as the colour spread all over Loki's body. They watched as strange lines appeared on his skin. They watched as his beautiful green eyes turned blood-red. And they watched as a pair of massive, grey horns grew from his head. The weight of them almost caused Loki's head to tip forward.
Thor knew the image he was looking at. He had seen the picture in his schoolbooks back in the palace, and he had seen paintings of blue creatures with red eyes. He had even seen a few alive; war criminals that his father kept in the dungeons of Asgard.
Before him stood a frostgiant. An ice-monster, from the Realm of Winter; Jotunheim.
It was just that, it wasn't a frostgiant. It couldn't be. It was Loki, his baby brother. Who he had grown up with, played with, fought with and listened to his mother's storys with. How could this happen?
"Thor...what is happening?" Loki looked up at him with those red eyes. He reached out a hand for his older brother, and immediately an ice-sword grew on his arm, seemingly out of thin air. The crowd watching gasped and backed away. Loki stared at his arm in shock. He reached out his other arm, and a shot of ice and snow hit the wall of a house, just a meter from a marketsman. The man looked at Loki with horror and disgust, protectively standing in front of his children. Loki flinched, and turned away from the family. But everytime he lifted his arm, a new shot of ice would fire, freezing everything it hit.
"Loki stop this! You are hurting people!" Thor shouted, trying to calm his brother.
"I don't know how! I don't know what is happening! Please, Brother, help me!" cried Loki.
"I don't know what to do!" Suddenly, a thought hit him. "But mother probably does! Mother knows everything! Calm down, Loki, and I'll get you back to the palace so mother can fix this! Is that alrigth, brother?"
Loki looked at Thor with big eyes as his older brother came closer, one step at a time. When he was close enough to touch, Thor lifted a hand to put on his brothers arm, but immediately pulled away when he felt the coldness coming from his brother's skin. If he was to touch him, he would probably be burned by the cold. Instead, he put his hand on his brother's armor clad shoulder.
"Come on, Little Brother. Let's get you home." said Thor, as he lead his shaking brother away from the market.
