Ok, let's hope detention for standing up for myself doesn't end up my on my permanent record. My mom understood, though. She said she would've done the same thing (Thank God she understood).
Jenn and I decided to go in together so that way it wouldn't be as awkward with a bunch of eyes on us. But we were actually the last ones to show up! The six of us were coincidentally the only ones that got detention that Saturday. I cringed when I saw Mark and Joey. Mark kept smirking at me like a perv and lifted up part of his shirt to show off his abs. I eye rolled him in return and sat next to Jenn in front.
Finster showed up to do role call, but when I turned around in my seat, Donnie was slumped back in his chair, looking at the floor, and he looked so down. What's the deal? I thought.
"Banks?" Finster called by last name.
"Here." I gave a little wave. But then I heard Mark in the background mumble, "You sure are..." And I got annoyed and saw Donnie cringe, too.
"Beasley?"
"Here!"
"Knight?"
"Present and ready to learn!" We all look behind us and Jordan just sits there with a dumb smile. Oh dear Lord, help us all...
He continued, "McIntyre?"
"I'm here." Joey secretly flirted to Jennifer.
"Wahlberg?"
"Which one?" Donnie and Mark said in unison.
Finster made a Grinch-like smile and walked toward them. "Ah, and I see that both Wahlberg brothers will be joining us on this lovely Saturday morning!" He walked toward Donnie some more and chuckled a little. "Donnie Wahlberg. What a guy. The one whom is related to a young man that used to sell drugs in the boys' bathroom. And what'd you do to join him? You tried to abuse another student. Great work, Walker. Great work." He started to slowly, and irritatingly clap.
Donnie looked livid, "I'm not like my brother." He gritted through his teeth.
"Don't talk back to your principal! Do you want another detention?!" Finster snapped.
Donnie hesitated angrily, "...Yes!"
"Well you've got it! You want one more?!"
"Sure! It's not like I've got anything better to do!"
"Well, you've got it! That's 4 detentions, mister!"
"Four!? But I only - "
"I'm charging you overtime. Now, I don't wanna hear another word come out of anyone's mouth the next time I'm present in this room. Understand!?" He yelled at the whole class this time. All we did was nod in return.
As soon as he slammed the door, Donnie screamed at him, "FORGET YOU!" He sat there pouting.
I turned around and semi-whispered, "Donnie... what's going on?"
He snapped back at Mark and said, "It's all YOUR fault!" Donnie put his fist up in front of his face to threaten him. But Mark just laughed.
He sat there with a stupid grin on his face and said, "Hey, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You can't help that."
I couldn't take it anymore, "You know what, Mark? Gimme a break. You're wasting everybody's oxygen so I suggest you shut your mouth!" I heard Joey and Jordan go, "Oooh!" In the background like it was a television sitcom.
Mark teased, "Oooh! A girl that fights back! You may have found yourself a real girlfriend this time, Donnie. Let's see, she'll be girlfriend number twelve?" I tried to not take it personally. I knew Donnie was better than that. They probably weren't even real girlfriends, anyway.
