"What's your name?" Minho asked him as we followed him. "Damien" he answered, jumping over a small brick wall into a garden. We were moving away from the fire and my head and stomach began to feel normal again.
"Where are we going?" I asked when I knew I wouldn't be sick again. "It's not far," he answered, jumping over another wall into an alley. "Where is it though?" I asked again. "Not far." I looked at Minho who merely shrugged his shoulders.
"He spends a lot of his time with the same guys I used to stay with," he said. "What are they like?" I asked. "Fine really," he answered. "They don't do much, they spend most of their time moping around. They like to keep out of the way of the rest of the Cranks."
"They're in there," he said, pointing to a crumbling building. There was light inside and I could see shadows moving around. He began to walk again. "You stay here," I said. "Suit yourself," he shrugged his shoulders. "Ghost, stay" I said. He lay down and sighed.
Minho and i went forward, unsure of what might await us inside, afraid of what we might see. In there, the walls were stripped, patches of paint that had been too stubborn to come off remained. The ground was invisible, covered in dirt. Torn up chairs and cushions were strewn around and people sat on all of them.
"Can you see him?" Minho asked. "No," I whispered. We walked around the room, careful not to draw too much attention to ourselves. There was an open door at the far end. As I peered through I could see the blonde hair and lanky build of someone I knew only too well.
"He's in here," I said, pointing in the door. "What are you waiting for then?" Minho asked. "I don't know if he's alone or not. I'll go first. Don't follow me until I tell you." He nodded and I walked in. The room was empty except for Newt, who sat on a chair in front of a table. He was reading something.
"Hey," I said gently. He jumped. "What are you doing here?" He asked. His voice was hoarse. "To get you. Come on," I said. "No," he said. "Excuse me?" "No. I'm not leaving," he answered. "Why the hell not?" I asked, unable to keep the irritation out of my voice.
"You shouldn't have come here," he said. "It's dangerous. I'm dangerous." "Dangerous my ass," I answered. He looked up at me finally, with bloodshot eyes. "Rosie please. I'm only getting worse. You might as well just leave me here. It's better for you." "Better for me?" I asked, my voice rising along with my temper.
"When will all you idiots understand I am capable of making my own decisions. And I'm able to deal with the consequences!" "Rosie," Newt said, his eyes pleading with me. "I have the Flare. I'm sick. I'm eventually going to go mad. It's more than likely going to be sooner rather than later, and I don't want you to have to see me like that."
"Newt," I said, my voice barely more than a whisper. I fell to my knees and put my hand on his cheek. "I love you. I love you so much it hurts me. I can't imagine a day when you won't be here, and I refuse to. I need you. I need you like I need air, like I need water. Please, don't take what keeps me alive away from me."
He wiped tears that I didn't know had fallen away from my face. "It's going to be bad," he said. "I don't care." "It mightn't even work." "It will," I said. "I'll make it work." He smiled and wiped my tears away, before kissing me gently. I could taste the saltiness of the tears I didn't know he'd been crying.
"I love you too," he said, pressing his forehead against mine. "I promise I'll stay until the very end." In that moment, I knew no matter what he had done or what he would do that I loved him. I loved him so much that it really did hurt. I wrapped my arms around his neck and stayed there until my eyes dried.
"Minho is waiting for us, we should probably go," I said. He nodded and took my hand. When Minho saw us his face lit up. Newt shook his head before he could say anything and nodded towards the outside door.
Once outside, Minho engulfed Newt in a bear hug. "Don't do that anymore," he said. Newt laughed. Ghost bounded over, his tail wagging. "Can we go now?" Damien asked, following Ghost. "Who's this?" Newt asked, not bothering to hide his suspicion. "Damien," I answered. "He said he'd take us to you if we bring him with us when we leave."
"We should probably head now," Damien said. "The sun is starting to rise and the Cranks won't take too kindly if they see us trying to leave." "Okay then," Minho said, starting to walk. We followed back the way we came, avoiding the center where the bonfire had been.
"How did yous get over that?" Damien asked, looking up at the looming gate. "Easy," I answered taking a running start and jumping onto the gate like I did on the way in. I leaned over, offering him my hand as he jumped. I did the same for Newt and waited as Minho handed me Ghost again, like a parcel.

Back at the Berg Isabella was not happy. "What the hell were you thinking?" She screamed at me. "You all could have been killed! Is there any brain inside that fat head of yours?" "Isabella," Lucas began. "Shut up you," she said.
"In case you haven't realized," I said. "I'm old enough to make my own decisions. We all are for that matter." "Right, sure, but there are bigger things at stake here okay? So if for one second you could just stop thinking about yourself." "Isabella, give it a rest," Lucas said.
"No I won't! She can't-" "ISABELLA," Lucas shouted. "That's enough. You don't own her." Her face turned red and she stormed off to the top of the Berg, making as much noise as she could on the way down.
Lucas shrugged his shoulders. "Don't forget about tonight," he said, before leaving us alone. "Imagine if Damien had wanted to come back here," Minho chuckled."She would've gone more physco than she did."
"What's happening tonight?" Newt asked. Minho looked at me and I shrugged my shoulders. I wasn't telling him. "Well, it's kind of a complicated story," Minho began.
