"Arden has arrived." Killian informed me, leaning against the door with a smirk on his face, though he really didn't need to. I could feel his presence close to me since the moment I woke up.

"I'm surprised that he let you come here to wake me up instead of himself coming, aren't alpha's supposed to be all roar about their mates."

"Roar? Really?" I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and nodded.

"I've met plenty of Alpha's, they are all so possessive. I'm yet to meet a somewhat normal leader." I told him.

"Honestly, with your tongue I'm surprised you're still alive. I'm still contemplating what's more important, my friendship with Arden or helping the world by eliminating you." That was fair, I did trouble him a lot last night.

"Ouch, my heart. I thought we were becoming friends!"

He lead me away from the room and the woodsy smell hit my strong nose immediately. My wolf was resisting her attraction towards Arden by projecting memories of what happened just a few days ago, and each time the kiss was replayed I felt myself cringe.

I could hear footsteps pacing quickly across the floor, moving from one side of the huge room to the other.

Then the footsteps stilled and JerkAss opened the door.

I was engulfed in a huge hug from my mate who was inhaling my scent as if I would run away any moment.

Okay, ignore that comment.

Wesley, Andrew and Castile stood a little distance away with disappointed looks on their face, but I knew they were relieved I was alright. Castile raised an eyebrow when he noticed me looking, and playfully made a motion as if he was locking a padlock and throwing the key away. Wes noticed and rolled his eyes at Castile, lightly slapping the back of his neck.

I did not notice this before, but my mate was shaking. His whole body was shuddering as thought it was freezing.

I wriggled out of his grasp and gave his offending hands a scathing look. On our first meeting he had been given a lesson about touching me without permission, if he tried it again I would flip him into the ground, alpha or not. His eyebrows pulled together and I saw him take a long breath in.

"I ask you for a second chance and you run away?" He growled. "And to think I was actually going to let you out of your room without Wesley or Andrew!"

I arched my eyebrow. "See there's your problem, let me out of the room?" I folded my arms over my chest. "And then he wonders why I ran away." I murmured under my breath, and then louder I said, "I walk out when I want to, Alpha." There were many, many reasons I ran away, with this controlling nonsense being close to the bottom. His and his girlfriend makeout session was tied for first place.

"Was getting the whole battalion necessary? This is embarrassing." I eyed Killian standing across the room, still smirking. I scowled at him.

"What do you want me to do for you? I am not going to let you go, you are my mate and my Luna! Do you hear me? You. Are. MINE."

"Still not an object." I sang.

"I need you, little rogue." He said. I hesitated, wondering whether I should tell him how I feel, or how I'm supposed to feel.

For a moment, the rationale part of my brain wanted to scoff and throw something cutting back at him. But the wolf in me, the stupid, traitorous animal was already straining towards him, hoping to comfort the hurt that was almost radiating out of him in waves.
