"This one is a tough to handle." Killian told Arden his parting words.
"Is that the reason you wanted to keep me in a dungeon?" I asked him sweetly.
"You put her in a dungeon?" Arden roared. "Killian, I told you to keep her safe!
"She was safe and ultimately wasn't kept in the dungeon!" Killian defended himself and I rolled my eyes.
"She is my mate Killian." Arden growled.
"A rowdy and disrespectful one!"
And so began the argument about whether or not I was a suitable mate for an alpha which was won for me by Arden. It was nice to see Arden talk so much and interact with another friend, also the way he fought for my honour provided great entertainment.
On our way back to the Leikos territory, a place I had mixed feelings about, I tried to keep my breath steady. The last time I had tried my best to run away, and I failed, this time I wasn't sure about what my modus operandi would be. As soon as we got to the pack, people stared. I pushed my shoulders back and stepped out of the car with my head held high.
I wasn't going to let myself be disrespected. I may not be a Luna in their eyes, but I was going to show them who Rosemarie Elizabeth Conrad was, and let them know that she isn't one to be messed with.
I took a step towards Arden and placed my hand on his tense shoulders, showing the pack my position and rights and also making it very clear to any female wannabe Luna that I was the only one who could slide my hands down and under and get away with it. The wolves were now looking at me with recognition in their eyes. The bond between us was pretty obvious, it just in needed to be looked at by neutral eyes.
"Ready?" Arden asked me gently.
"Let's get this show started."
He cleared his throat to catch the attention of all his pack members out of whom a majority were sizing me up.
"Silence!" His strong Alpha voice boomed. "I need to make an announcement regarding your future Luna, I expect respect." Future Luna. Those words rung in my ears but I said nothing, holding my posture.
And saying that, it turned eerily quite, only the rustle of leaves could be heard as they were not under the command of Arden's strong Alpha voice.
"This is Rose," he began, his voice steady, "Many of you recognize her as the rogue who attacked Rianne, and while yes, that happened, it was entirely due to a misunderstanding that was created from my own lack of communication and foresight. As many of you now know, Rose is my mate and she is bound by the same law of instincts as the rest of us. Neither Rose nor Rianne Rose knew of each other, and for that I take full responsibility. I apologize to both, Rianne and my Luna." He visibly squeezed my hand as whispers rippled through the pack. Alpha's rarely ever apologized so publicly. "I ask you to welcome Rose into the pack as your own." His tone was authoritative, but open as he continued, "She may have been a rogue once, but she is also my mate and the most esteemed guest to this pack till she accepts it as her own. Treat her well." He informed the pack, but it felt more like an offering to me, where he publicly gave me an out if I chose it. I felt the ice around my heart melt a little more. I really hoped I didn't turn into a puddle like a melted snowman.
