"Right now, all we can do is stand by while Commander Erwin fixes up a new expedition," Gunther said. "Things have calmed down a bit, and the next thing we're looking forward to is the 104th Trainee Squad's graduation."
"Huh. Getting another batch of shitty brats?" Auruo smirked, leaning back in his chair.
"If we ever get any, this time," Petra said, lacing her hands together. "It's not looking too good for the Corps, seeing how our expeditions have been going..."
"(Y/N), what's wrong?" Eldo asked. "You've been awfully quiet."
"Hm?" (Y/N)'s head snapped up, pulling her out of her thoughts. "Sorry, I was just thinking."
"You know, if thinking was always an option, we wouldn't have Commander Erwin at the helm."
"Just because you don't do it, doesn't mean everyone else doesn't," (Y/N) fired back. "No, it's just...my brother and my sister are from the 104th, too."
"I thought your parents were watching them?" Gunther asked.
(Y/N) shook her head. "No...my mother...my mother was killed by a Titan when Wall Maria fell."
Petra gasped. Auruo clenched his jaw.
"My father disappeared," (Y/N) continued. "Mikasa wrote to me when they were on the move. It was around that time that they joined the military."
"(Y/N)..." Eld's voice was soft. "That was five years ago. Why didn't you tell us?"
"Five years ago I wasn't in Squad Levi," (Y/N) reminded him gently
"(Y/N)...I'm so sorry," Petra said, reaching over to hold her hand.
She managed a smile. "It's okay. I'm more worried about my brother, though."
"Who?" Eld asked. "The one with the temper issues?"
"Precisely him," (Y/N) remarked with a laugh. "Well...if he joined the military, there's no doubt where he's going. He's looked up to them ever since he was a kid."
"Well, we'll be ready when he comes," Auruo bragged, earning him an elbow to the ribs from Petra.
"What's his name, again?" asked Gunther.
(Y/N) smiled. "Eren," she replied. "Eren Jaeger."
