"The conditions are fairly easy to follow," Erwin said, as Eren left for the bathroom. "Summing it all up, it's just to make sure Eren doesn't go berserk anytime soon."
"That won't be a problem," Levi said, watching (Y/N) for a reaction. She gave none.
"Hanji, I believe some experiments are in order," Erwin said.
Hanji laughed. "You don't need to ask!"
"As for hideouts..." Erwin brought out a map. "It's time to move."
Levi, Hanji, (Y/N), and Mike looked at the map.
"Oh, there?" Hanji asked, adjusting her glasses. "It's old. And filthy."
(Y/N) saw Levi's eye twitch at the last line, and tried not to laugh at his expression.
"It's the best plan we've got." Erwin looked at Levi. "Starting tomorrow, Eren's in your squad."
"Okay" was all that Levi mumbled.
As Erwin, Hanji, and Mike left, (Y/N) stuck around, lounging on the couch. Levi was supposed to leave, but stopped at the door.
"You heard him," he said. "He knew it was necessary."
"I know," (Y/N) said.
"Now will you stop ignoring me?"
(Y/N) looked at him. "What, you expect me to fawn all over you after you kicked the shit out of Eren? What's wrong with you?"
"You know I wouldn't do it if I wasn't ordered to," Levi said, raising his voice. "He's done nothing wrong. To me, at least."
The two stared each other down. Finally, (Y/N) looked away.
"I'm angry," she confessed. "But I don't know what I'm angry at. Myself? Nile? I don't know. I'd feel better if I blame it on you. That's how I survived, mostly."
"I guess I can respect that," Levi said. "By the way...I hope you kept my offer in mind."
(Y/N) turned to him, an incredulous look on her face. Levi rarely ever cared for chain, rank, or command. He'd asked her days ago, but she could never find an answer.
"Don't be ridiculous," (Y/N) mumbled.
"I'm not joking."
"You don't need a second-in-command."
"Well, I do now," Levi said. "And I need her to stay with me."
A blush spread across (Y/N)'s face, taking Levi's words into account. His face along with the words he just said did not match at all. She shook her head and looked away.
"Why don't you ask Petra? Or Auruo? They've been here longer than I have."
"Years of experience don't determine leaders. And they're not what I'm looking for." Levi straightened his jacket. "My offer still stands, you know. Until you get killed or you disgrace the Survey Corps."
(Y/N) sighed, and stared at her hands. "I don't know. I'm still pretty angry at you."
Levi was staring at (Y/N) strangely, causing her to get flustered again.
"What are you looking at?" she barked.
Anyone else who said that might have been greeted by a splendid kick to the face. But, Levi kept looking at her.
He snorted out something close to a laugh. "Nothing. I thought I saw her just now."
Before (Y/N) could say anything, he had left.
Who did he see? (Y/N) thought. I mean...we were alone just now, weren't we?
"(Y/N)?"
(Y/N) turned to see Eren, who was standing in the doorway.
"Oh," she said. "You ready to go?"
"Yeah," Eren said. "Are you okay?"
"Of course," (Y/N) said. "Of course I am."
