~ Lucy's POV ~
Harry left the room, and I guess he took my sanity with him.
I started to hyperventilate. I hated the dentist. I can only imagine how much pain I'm going to be in.
And the needles.
I mean I don't hate 'Harry' but I know I'm not going to like what happens next.
As long as I don't cry.
And then there was the click of the door, followed by my greatest fear.
~ Harry's POV ~
I'm a dentist. Of course I can tell when someone looks scared, or anxious. I see it nearly every day.
And right now, I saw it dead in Lucy's eyes. The piercing green eyes almost reminded me of my own.
"Love," I said, putting on a new pair of gloves. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm scared Harry," she said.
Poor girl. I grabbed her hand and held it tight in mine.
"You know that I won't hurt you," I told her.
She looked slightly more at ease, and she nodded.
"I'll tell you everything that I do as I do it," I said to reassure her.
And then Louis opened the door.
~ Lucy's POV ~
Another man opened the door. I recognized him from the band, it was Louis, but I had no clue why he was here.
"Hey Lucy," Louis said as he snapped on some gloves and grabbed a mask. "I'm Louis, and I'll be helping out Harry today."
I looked at Harry, slightly confused.
"Don't worry Lucy," Harry said back in a cool and calm voice, "Louis and I are an awesome team on and off stage."
They both smiled at each other, and then at me.
"Are you ready to get started Lucy?" Harry said.
"Sure." I said as my chair was lowered again in that all-too-familiar setting.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
~ Harry's POV ~
"Okay Lucy," I said, "we're going to start by numbing you with some laughing gas and lidocain."
"Okay," she said, worried but calmly.
"If you ever feel any pain or need a quick break, just raise your hand and we'll stop," Louis added.
Louis then adjusted the mask over her nose, twisted the knob and instructed her to take deep breaths through her nose.
"You're doing great Lucy," I said grabbing a mouth prop. "But before we numb you up with lidocain, I need to put this in so you don't have to hold your mouth open the whole time."
She looked more relaxed from the gas, and she nodded.
"Good job," Louis said as he put some numbing gel on a q-tip on the gums above her tooth.
After about a minute, I got the needle ready.
"Okay love," I said uncapping the needle. "When I count to three, I'm going to give you the needle."
She looked slightly worried, but okay.
"One, two, three-"
~ Lucy's POV ~
I closed my eyes when he started counting down. This was always the worst part.
The single tear that fell down my cheek was softly wiped off by Louis.
"It's almost over Lucy," Louis said to me, holding my hand.
This gas made me feel like I was far away, but still watching what was going on, like it was a movie.
Let's just say I didn't love the feeling.
I felt the pressure of the needle but then, as suddenly as it started, it was over.
I wanted to fight the gas that made my eyes feel like 10 tonne weights, but I felt sleepier by the second.
~ Harry's POV ~
Lucy's eyes closed slowly. I checked her pulse, just to be sure.
Some people react to the medication differently. Some people stay awake, others, like Lucy, fall asleep.
If she was awake, I would have explained to her what I was doing, but right now it was just Louis and I.
"Okay Louis," I said to him, "you should get the suction ready."
"Already on it," he said back.
And with that, we got started.
I carefully cut into her gums over her tooth to expose some of the tooth that was pushed up there.
I grabbed a pair of forceps and tried to see if I could wiggle that tooth out of there.
I also felt pretty guilty for the pain she was going to be in later today, and for the next couple of days.
I didn't want to have to chisel the tooth out of there if I didn't have to.
Luckily, before I even had to consider that an option, the tooth popped out. Louis quickly suctioned as much blood as he could.
I got the suture needle and thread ready and gave her two stitches over the hole where her tooth once was, which helped with the bleeding.
Louis cleaned off the area with some water, placed a cotton roll under her tooth, and took out the prop.
Lucy's eyes started to blink, and I could tell from her facial expressions that she was starting to get some pain.
"It's okay Lucy," I said holding her hand, "It's all over."
