Martin
I was in my office at Stmpd Rcrds and I was on my computer working on a new melody that I had come up with earlier that day. I checked the time: 10:47 a.m. Man, I've been in here since 6 a.m. I decided to take a short break. I got up from the spinny chair and stretched. I sighed. It felt good. Then I went downstairs to the main lobby of the company to check up on our inbox, see if any artists wanted to collaborate or had any ideas of coming in and working on a track with me. I went to the front desk and asked the woman, Caroline, if we had anything that came in the mail. She giggled, looked down then back up, and blushed, attempting to flirt with me. "Yes, would you like to see what came in?" She asked while twirling a piece of hair around her finger and batting her long eyelashes like a little school girl.
I ignored her flirtatious moves. Don't get me wrong, Caroline was hot, but I only come to work to be professional and professional only. Nobody can change that. But I've decided to play with her just a tad bit, just to get a rise out of her, so I put a smirk on my face."Yeah, what have we got?" I asked her, giving her a wink.
She blushed even harder, trying to hide it. "Ummm here, these are all the stuff that was in there." She said.
"Okay, thanks Caroline."
"Uh, sir, would you like some coffee? I mean you've been in your studio for so long and you look a little drained. You know, for such a young, handsome boy, you do work pretty hard. So may I please get you some coffee? My treat!"
I mentally rolled my eyes at the flirtatious gesture, but I managed to be polite. "That would be nice, thank you. Just get me a chocolate chip frappé from McDonalds please. Nothing too fancy."
"Yes, Martin, right away. Would you like anything else while I'm at it?"
"No, no, I don't want you to be long because you have to man the front desk. Thanks for asking though."
She smiled, nodded, and quickly strides out the front door. I was just but to head back to my studio, but then I forgot to give Caroline some money to buy the coffee. I placed the mail under my left arm and quickly took out $5. I rushed out the door and jogged over to Caroline, seeing that she didn't get very far yet."Caroline here, to buy the coffee." I said, holding out the money in front of her. "Oh, no, don't worry, I have the money, I'll pay for it."
"Are you sure? I didn't want to seem rude."
"It's totally fine, Martin." She smiled a reassuring smile. "Okay." I said. I tucked the thin piece of paper into my pocket. I walked back to the company building and headed back for my studio. Once I got there, I shut the door and looked through the mail. "Not important, not important, I'll have to look at this later, and what's this?" I say mentally as I came across a small white envelope with only the return and send to address. I tore open the envelope. It was one of the applications, I myself had sent out last week, for a full time job as a secretary for me. I had about 10 other applications to compare that one too, so that's what I did. On the application, the applier's name was Crystal-Violet Rogers. "That's such a beautiful name." I thought. I looked at the picture of her that she attached. I wanted a picture attached to the applications so I could see what they looked like and see if they match their descriptions of themselves. After comparing her application to the others, I decided that Crystal-Violet would be the one.
I went to my computer and opened a word processor and typed the acceptance letter:Dear Ms. Rogers,
I am very excited to inform you that you have qualified for your job request as a secretary here at Stmpd Rcrds. You will start your profession this upcoming Monday. I hope you find everything you wish for while working here for me.
On the previous day from which you start, please bring in this document to the front desk to confirm that you will be choosing this profession. That day, rules, guidelines, and other important information will be given to you. Once again, thank you for applying and I hope to enjoy you at Stmpd Rcrds!
Sincerely,
Martijn GarritsenI read it over a couple times and after approving that it was eligible to send, I printed it out. I had to go back down to the lobby to get an envelope and the gold circular sticker that we always put at the tip of the flap whenever we are mailing out something. I took the elevator down. Just as I was about to turn the corner, I saw Caroline coming in the front door with two coffee drinks in her hand. Im guessing she bought herself one too. I turned and walked toward her. She saw me and started walking a little faster.
"Here's your coffee you wanted."
"Thank you so much Caroline, I owe you one."
"I know what you could do to make it up." She mumbled under her breath. "What?" I asked, even though I knew what she said. She looked up at me quickly and shook her head hastily saying, "Oh, nothing. I just reminded myself I had to do something after work. Were you down here the whole time waiting for me?"Changing the subject, now isn't she.
"No, I went back up to the studio and looked through the mail and, great news, I finally found a secretary! I just finished printing out the acceptance letter and I came down here to get the envelope and the gold sticker."
"Wow that's great!" She said wholeheartedly, "Who is he?" She asked. "It's a she." I answered. Her smile fell slowly. "A she?" She said. I detected a condescending tone. Ah-ha! Time to play with her a little. "Yeah, her name is Crystal-Violet Rogers. Her name is so beautiful, just like she is." I said, pretending to act all dreamy-like. I saw the jealousy take over her, but she tried to hide it. I smirked."Oh...that's nice." She says, her voice faulting a slight bit.
"Yeah, she starts on Monday. I have to outline the rules and guidelines to her the day before."
"Hope she'll follow them. You know how some people can be."
"Yeah true. Well let me get back to work I'll come down or call if I need anything else." I say.
"Okay."
Before I went back to the studio, I got the envelope and gold sticker. Once I was back in the studio I put the letter in the envelope and the sticker at the tip of the flap. It gave me so much satisfaction for some odd reason. I wrote the sender and send to address on the front of the envelope along with a stamp. I called Caroline to come pick up the acceptance letter from my studio so she can send it out.She came up a few minutes later and did what she was told. I can't wait for Crystal-Violet to come. Today's Friday, so I'll see her on Sunday. I've been wanting to hire a secretary for a while now, but it was only a month or so I actually started to take some action. Well, let's see how Crystal-Violet does.
