[ Chiyori's P.O.V. ]

I tapped the end of my pen on the table as I stared at the files of training regimens that we're going to implement next week in preparation for the upcoming match.

Checking these files was supposed to be the job of the head coach but for some unknown reasons, he just nonchalantly handed it to the assistant coach, namely me.

You must be wondering why did I became the assistant coach when I am a student myself. Well, for starters, it seemed that the head coach thought I was the perfect candidate there to keep the boys in line who, unsurprisingly, were naturals when it comes to being a pain in the ass. I was more or less the acting nanny of the team and that kind of benefits me, believe it or not, as I get to join their drills and practices sometimes.

However...

I slammed the folder down at the desk in annoyance.

I am still a student for crying out loud! I have a grade to maintain! Tons of assignment to finish and reports to submit!

And I should be playing Basketball for real instead of assisting in their training!

Why did I let them decide if I should continue my career in Basketball or not? Why did I let my family decide that for me?

Oh... I almost forgot. I got reckless and harmed myself and it affected my studies... blah blah but that was definitely normal!

I slammed my fist on the desk.

Acquiring injuries during matches couldn't be helped, it's part of playing!

At the end of the day, my family always got the final say to my well-being.

Pissed off, I stood up from my seat and threw myself in the fluffiness of my bed, grabbing the book I hid under my pillows and started to read it.

I was starting to get engross in the story when two consecutive knocks echoed through the door. I looked up from my book as the door creaked open, my mother entering inside the room. "Hmm? What is it, Mom?" I asked, putting down the book I was reading and sat up.

She gave me a smile as she made her way inside and sat down on the bed facing me.

"I am going to tell you something, but first, I want you to promise me you're not going to freak out," she started.

I sweat dropped. Then, it's obvious that she's going to tell me something worth freaking out. "I'll try," I honestly replied.

My mother sighed at my response. "Okay. Your father couldn't come back in Japan due to business matters, so instead, we have decided that you're going in his place," she seriously said, looking me dead in the eyes.

There was a moment of silence before I hesitantly broke it with a question. "Ah... you're not serious, are you?"

"I'm serious."

She's serious.

"What the f*ck am I going to do there?" I unconsciously voiced out loud as I stared at my mother's face in disbelief.

The immediate look of disapproval she threw my way made me regret the choice of words.

I cleared my throat awkwardly. "O-Okay, let me rephrase that, what am I exactly going to do there when the school had just started? Why are you sending me there?"

Don't get me wrong, I love Japan but sending me there all of a sudden when the school had just started here in America, there must be a good reason behind it.
