Nico's P.O.V

"Why? Why is everyone looking out for me?" Emery whispered. "Its supposed to be the other way around. I'm supposed to take care of all of you!" Her eyes were closed and her hands were in small fists.

I walked up and put my hands on her shoulders. She was stiff under my touch but then she relaxed. She slowly opened her eyes. She looked at me, her eyes slowly going back to their lively color. I didn't move, I wish she could understand.

"Em, you cannot help everyone. You cannot hurt yourself for not being able to help someone. You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. We made a choice, we are your friends, we love you so much. We aren't going to leave you, you could leave us one day and we'd still love you." I took a minute to catch my breath. "This is your choice, if you want to go then I'll watch you go with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes."

I searched her face, anything that I was looking for was not there. She doesn't want to go, no, but she has to go because she made a deal. She nodded her head to Thalia and walked away from me.

She stopped and ran back to me, kissing me in the corner of my lips. I grabbed her face and directed it on my lips. She pulled back and looked at Lynn who was red in the face.

Emery looked at her and held her hand out to her. "Well? You coming?" Emery asked with a smile on her face. Lynn nodded once and laced her fingers with Emery.

Cammy seemed stressed. She grabbed onto Emery's other hand and stopped her. She didn't say anything, she just kissed her cheek and let go.

Emery seemed sad. She mouthed the words 'I love you Ghost Girl.' Then she walked out and closed the door softly.

Kyle seemed to start freaking out. He grabbed his hair and fell to the floor, He started hyperventilating.

"Schist! Dad is gonna kill me!" He wasn't breathing right, at this rate he was gonna pass out.

I grabbed his shoulders and pinned him to the floor. "Hey! Look, you need to calm down." I said slowly, knowing how to deal with things like this.

His breathing was slowing down but his face showed he was still scared. "Shhhh, you're ok, it's ok." I spoke softly to him. He reminded me of the time Emery had a panic attack in her sleep.

I helped him sit up and he automatically clutched onto me. I patted his back awkwardly and he calmed down after a while.

I pulled away and looked at him. "So," I started "tell me about what your dad said."

Emery's P.O.V

I was walking with Lynn, talking to her about anything and everything. She seemed interested in almost everything I said. I told her about the first time I came to camp when I was so young. I spoke about all the half bloods I met and what they did in their future.

I couldn't stop talking, I felt so, I don't know how to say it. Alive? Is that what this feels like? I just feel like I can breathe with her around.

I glanced at her in the corner of my eye and smiled. It was her turn to talk about what her life was about.

"Well, you already know Liam, well, he's my brother. Younger brother actually..." She went on and on about her life, things she did as a child, while growing up, the places she's been. I found myself wanting to be apart of her life.

"Yeah...And there was this one time at a friend's birthday party when everyone was asleep that Morgan kissed me." I stopped.

She seemed to notice and blushed. "No no no no no! To me it wasn't like that. She liked-well, likes me but I don't see her that way! I don't even know if I can really count her as my friend. She sorta started to ignore me." She scrunched up her face in confusion.

I looked down and realized our hands were still locked together. I looked up and she looked down, she blushed and pulled our hands away.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-"

"It's fine Lynn. I really don't mind it." I cut her off with a smile.

She seemed to smile back and slipped her hand back into mine. I looked ahead of us and saw Thalia giving me weird looks. I shrugged and gave her a face. I stuck my tongue out at her and she laughed at me. She fell back her steps so I could catch up to her.

"So," She smiled at me "you ready for this? I mean, you are kinda rusty..." She faded her voice and smirked.

I scoffed. "You trying to say I can't do it? Who the Hades are you and what did you do to my cousin?" I laughed.

She laughed as well and ruffled my hair. I whined and pushed her hands away. "Ughhhh, Thalia! It takes forever to fix my hair! I'm gonna tell my mom on you!" I teased. But then I got kinda sad.

I really missed my mom. And when I join the hunt then I won't be able to see her anymore. I shook my head and removed the negative thoughts. Of course I could see my mom.

Lynn's P.O.V

Emery seemed really upset in a few seconds. I think she said something and made her think. All of a sudden she held her head in the pain. Her wrists started to glow.

"Ah! It hurts! Kyle!" She yelled in pain.

"Schist! The empathy link is hurting her! We have to get her back home with Kyle! Go!" Thalia yelled to the others and myself.

I grabbed Emery and ran back to the apartment. I had tears in my eyes and something hit me, I fell to the floor and held the air. Air? I looked up with hazy vision and couldn't see Emery in sight.

"EMERY!"

I screamed and screamed but nothing. I couldn't hear myself. I couldn't hear anything. I curled into a ball and held my head. I cried and my heart hurt.

"Emery, where did you go?" I whispered to myself before falling asleep.
