Chapter 5
Olivia
Just my luck. I had missed the bus to Scots Baronial. It could have only been by a couple of minutes. But now I was walking in the light rain, trying to found a street sign saying Scots Baronial that way. But I was in the middle of nowhere.
Paddocks of luscious green sat on both sides of me and spread out for miles. Mountains stood proudly in the distance reminding me how far away from home I really was.
I stopped, trying to get my bearings. I had no idea where I was going. But it was too late to turn back.
The rain started to get harder and my already soaked clothes were getting harder to walk in. My hair was sicking to my cheeks and my hand bag kept slipping off my shoulder. The boots that I wore were not made for walking in and I could feel blisters start to form.
Fog started to get tangled around my ankles as I started to walk up a hill. The trees seemed to grow even taller, blocking off any scenery. Gullies seemed to form as I walked higher up the hill. The wind blew hard and my tied legs kept leading off the road and closer to the edge.
Low growls echoed in the wind making me slow down and look around. It was completely empty. Nothing but me on the deserted road.
Out of the trees leaped a great grey figure. My eyes widened as my feet stumbled back. The ground disappeared from my feet and all I felt was the force of the wind grow. Screams escaped from my mouth without me even realising and by the time I realised I was rolling, pain shot through my temple. My whole body started to feel numb and my eyelids grew heavy. The rain poured heavy on my face but I couldn't lift my hand to wipe it away. Without any command from my brain, my eyes closed and the black took over.

I struggled to walk through the trees as the rain poured down, trying to calm the wolf inside of me. It was growing restless but I couldn't tell if it was because of the excitement of the rain or if something was wrong.
I decided I would have a look around the estate, to see if there had been any movements of rogues around. So far none. Archie had told me yesterday that on his check, he and the other wolves didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. But that didn't mean that there weren't any rogues hanging around.
Slowly, I was beginning to regret my decision of going alone but I needed the time to think. I barely got time to these days.
I had been the Alpha King for three years but some days I felt like I was still new at the job. It was hard enough to be an Alpha of a normal pack but being King made that job look easy. Not to mention my torn apart family.
My head shot up at the sound of a stick snapping. The wet weather ruined any chance of smelling anything, but I didn't need to. In the distance, stood a still figure, drenched, his gaze straight on mine.
"Hey!" I called out.
As soon as he heard me, he turned and shifted. A grey wolf replaced his skinny body as he leaped through the trees.
"Damn it," I muttered to myself, running after him.
I forced the urge not to shift and go after him, but there was no point. He would run till he was as far as he could be from me.
I froze at the sound of screams. A woman's screams. My heart started to race at the fear if he could have attacked someone. Slowly, I started to pace in the direction, gaining my speed till I was sprinting through the wet forest.
A small hint of blood was carried to me as well as another smell. A smell that made my normal blue eyes burn gold. The wolf inside of me stirred at the sent, leading me to the woman faster than I realized.
And there she lied, frozen in time, drenched by the rain. I started to shake my head not fully knowing why as I walked over to her still body.
She was a frozen ice princess. No colour came to her cheeks and her short hair was struck to her face. A small trail of blood fell from her forehead where she had hit the log. My gaze turned to the gully wall where a mud slide was slowly forming from the top of the hill to where she lied now. Did she fall?
"Help me," she mumbled with her eyes still closed.
The wolf inside of me wanted to howl as my teeth started to strengthen at the thought of marking her. Slowly, my denial started to fade and I began to realize who she was.
I shook my head, "No, no, it can't be."
Scooping her weak body into my arms, I thought of the possibility. But as I looked upon her, I could feel my eyes burn bright and I knew that there couldn't be another reason to why my wolf was trying to reach out like this. She was my mate.
