EMMA POINT OF VIEW
"Emma!" I see father catch up to me. "Hey, I'm sorry you didn't win, but look on the bright side you lasted the longest out of all the heros." Should I tell him the real reason...
No, it will break his heart if he knew I felt this way. He'll blame himself for bringing me here when he saved me from Earth from being abandoned.
He needs to know!
I know... just not now.
"On another bright side you get to stay here forever with me, and together we could work side by side." The people would officially hate him if I work with him. Forever...oh, you mean I stay here being hated forever.
I need to tell him.
I look back at Jacob whose still with his friends. I grab father's arm and direct him to an unoccupied corner. "Honey, what's wrong?" I look around to make sure no one around. A few suspicious glares glance my way, but no one would dare go near me...being the different one.
"Okay, I know this won't change a thing, but I just need to tell you." The smile on his face dims. "What's wrong? Is something to do with that boy?" Caught completely off guard for a split second..."What boy? Jacob? No!"
"Okay, what is it then?" He asked concerned like a concerned father would. "Um, the true reason why I wanted to win..." He gives me a tight hug. "I know why, you wanted to be a hero...I'm sorry you didn't win, but maybe next time..."
"No, father the real reason why I wanted to win because... I wanted to go to Earth. I feel like that's...that's where I belong and...let's face it father, I don't belong here. Everyday, we're both tortured by this people mostly me. You don't understand what...how it feels to be hated having no one to talk to. That villain, Jacob, he was the first person whose talked to me and not in a hateful tone...I'm mean at first it started off like that, but that's not the point. I just feel if I were gone you would be trusted by your people again and I would be free." I look at his face full of tears now.
Why did I tell him...even if he does need to know... I shouldn't have told him!
"I'm sorry, I didn't know..." I hold up my hand, which he stops talking, but his tears still shed. It's happening all over again. "No, it's okay, please just.. um, I see you at dinner okay?" I don't give him time to respond. I left him there crying. I'm so awful! Who leaves someone crying?!
I keep running until I'm out of the arena and bump into someone. "Sor..." no, no, not Jacob. This can't be happening! "Emma, you okay?" Just breathe, breathe! "Yeah, fine. Congrats." I keep on running until I bump into someone else fully aware Jacob still watching me. "Watch it!" Jennifer barked.
Just keep running.
What seems like a lifetime, I finally reach my room, and lock myself in.
I can't believe I made father cry, it's happening all over again!
...........
I leave my room only because I promised father I'll see him at dinner, but after dinner I never want to leave my room ever.Take leftovers to your room.
"Emma, follow me quickly, we don't have that much time." He whispered. Why are we whispering? I was about to question it not really wanting to leave the house, but I decided against it and followed...all the way to his office?
He locks the door after me, and moves a bookshelf to cover the door. "Fath..." He holds a finger to his lips. After listening to complete silence for several minutes my patience is at its lowest. He moves away from the door and faces me again. "Okay, we don't have much time. I arranged a shuttle for you to go to Earth. You'll arrive days later than the others so when you get there the news would probably be talking about them...you'll find out what the news is later..." I cut him completely off, as nice as this sounds no! "Father, this is forbidden!"
He holds a finger to his lips again. We hear shuffling of feet outside. We go silent until they walk pass the door.
"I know it's forbidden, but I'll work something out with the people everything will be okay...I'm just trying to make things right for what I did. I didn't mean to cause you pain..." this is so ridiculous! "You didn't do anything wrong! You saved me!"
Tears started to swell. I know what this means if he sends me to Earth. He comes to wipe away my tears on my cheeks. We hold each other in a tight hug that's almost sucks out the breath in me, but I don't care.
"The worst part is I'll never see you again, and I'll long out live you." I felt the tears falling onto my shoulder, making me cry that much harder. "Don't saayyy that, we'll seee eachother again, father." I can't believe I'm leaving, that's probably going to be the last time I'll ever say 'father' to him...I can't do this.
"I can't...I'm staying." I break our hug and look at his big puffy eyes. That must be what I look like. The thought makes me smile a little we're both a mess, but I know he's not going to let me stay.
"No, you're going...I don't want to cause you much pain. If it's been hard for me dealing with this people it probably a hundred times more for you, and I don't want to give you that I want to give you your best option. Here, follow me." He leads me to a secret door I never knew about. When I go to Earth will I forget him?
The pathway lead us to an open space on our side of the planet with a shuttle only meant to fit one person. I don't know if I could do this...I never should have told him.
"Remember, no matter what people say about you, you are destined for great things I can feel it in my very soul. Also watch out for that Jacob dude." I try to laugh, which just turns to a cough. "He's not that bad, father." For the first time today he smiled at me.
I'm going to miss that smile for... forever.
"Trust me he's not, but he had three of his buddies sent to the Earth with him, they're going to influence him to do dark things... you need to watch out for his friends as well." I never thought of it that way, he seemed okay with me still an arrogant guy, but okay one...but now he has his friends...yikes. One hero couldn't possibly control them.
That one hero... is Jennifer she was the only one who survived the first round she must have won the second round....out of all of them it had to be her.
This ought to get interesting.
"You have to go before someone spots us."
"Wait, what about you?" I asked scared. What will happen to him? Will the people trust him again now that I'm not here or will they still dethrone him because he's sending me to Earth...which is forbidden to do! "I'll be fine, go!"
I walk up to the shuttle, I look inside, and run back to father. "Thank you, daddy!" He wipes away fresh tears streaming down my cheeks. "I love you, Emmy. You'll always be my Emmy girl."
"I love you too, daddy. I always be daddy little girl"
"That's right, and don't forget that either." He pushed me toward the shuttle, and I run in before I can change my mind. He's doing this for me, I can't let him down.
The shuttle took flight with me looking out the window at father who never put his hand down. Still waving at me. Waving goodbye. I wave back, but I doubt he could see me.
That was the last time I ever saw him. The last memory I'll ever have of him, loving me so much to let me go, to be free!
Okay, Planet Earth. You need a hero, and I'm coming to save you!
