Not "Love" At First Sight.

I'm not the suicidal type but this camp is making me lean into that direction. Today was the day were we learn the campfire song. This stupid rhyming song. I didn't bother leaving my tent this morning. And I sure didn't bother seeing Amber throughout the day either.

I bet she's with Janet and Rebecca, plotting to talk to Elijah. As for me I've taken naps after naps after naps. If that's not normal, then I'm hoping they call my parents so can leave this potshell. My camp instructor has dropped by my tent so many times, I'm beginning to think that she thinks I'm dead.

So far I've waken up for breakfast and lunch. I'm not to fond about dinner because whenever it comes to camping, fishing is involved. And the one thing I know is, I am not nor will I ever kill and bait a fish on a pan to eat it raw. I rather starve.

I decided to pick out an outfit keeping me distracted. As I finished my touches with some bug repellent and sun screen, I stepped outside the tent to set my eyes upon the sunset. Wow.. maybe I did overdue it on my sleeping schedule today.

I may hate nature, but that sunset made a tear slowly slide down my cheek. I observed my surroundings, making sure Amber's shadow was no where to be found. As I walked to the campsite where most of the campers were located, a masculine figure bumped into me causing me to land on my bum.

"What's your problem?" I spatted. "I'm sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going!" he explained sincerely. Lending his hand into my direction, I intertwined my fingers with his and was lifted off the floor. "Yeah well next time..." my voice trailed off as I finally examined his appearance.

He immediately noticed that I was how do you say it, "checking him out" and smiled shyly. "Next time..." he repeated guiding me to finishing my sentence . "Never mind." I mumbled, wiping the dirt off my shorts. "What's your name?" he wondered. "Emberly." I blurted out.

Give me a reason to why I just told a stranger my name. "Emberly.." he murmured. "Uh yea." I arched my brow. "My bad, my name is Elijah." he chuckled. Ah so this is the Elijah everyone kept drooling over. "Your not as cute as everyone said you were." I thought that in my head, but my mouth spoke before my mind.

He laughed. "Well I guess I'll take that as a compliment." he shrugged. "ALL CAMPERS IT'S TIME MEET AT THE CAMPFIRE!" the instructed yelled through the blow horn.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance. Do I have too? "How long have you been at this camp?" he asked. "I lost track of time, I've been dreading every moment of it here." I replied. "Well...since your not new you can show me around." he cheered. Softy taking my hand into his, we ran over to the fire.

As we reached the fire, I felt glances from every girl. Amber on the other hand planted a huge smirk on her face. I forcefully removed my hand out of Eljiah, and pushed them into my pockets. He noticed and before he was able to speak, the instructor interrupted.

"I hope you guys so far are having a wonderful time. But before we get to the song, I would like to introduce a new face." she cheesed over to Elijah. Everyone's head turned into his direction, and I could see his cheeks turning red.

Is he blushing? Oh my goodness.. He really is shy. And cute. Wait what? No no I'll ignore what I just said. "Hey I'm Elijah, I'm fourteen. I like to play basketball and I'm very cool once you get to know me." he introduced. "Ahhh" the girls surrounding us sighed. Man they really must like this guy.

"Thank you Elijah." he walked back next to me but was pulled away by Sarah. "Hi Elijah." she batted her eyelashes flirtatiously. I watched as she talked to him and my blood began to boil.

Why am I suddenly caring that Sarah has Elijah? I just met him. I don't need a man. Boys are nasty. Ah much better. I'm calm now. "Okay now it's time for the campfire song." the instructor jumped in excitement.

We're by a campfire.
With many new faces to see.
The fire's crackling.
The heat is keeping us free.
The day is done.
It's time to relax and eat.
Come join the crowd, it's better when it's you and me.
Grab some smores, it'll keep you warm.
Grab a friend, the friendship will never end.
Memories of the day will continue to flow.
Being in a campfire, we'll never let it go.
The food, the fun, it'll never be gone.
As long as you continue to sing this campfire song.

Wow. I have never hated a song, as much as this one. "Now everyone sing!" the instructor sang. I watched as everyone began hitting off key notes. Shaking my head I pumped my earphones in my ears blocking the sound. I didn't even notice Elijah coming back into my direction.

"Come on Emerbly. The song isn't that bad." he snickered. "Sorry can't hear you." I mouthed. He shook his head smirking. I ignored him on purpose but he continued to look at me, until finally got sick of it. "What?" I tampered. "Nothing..your just so.. Pretty." he responded quietly.

My heart flickered. He just called me.. Pretty. I smiled on the inside but that couldn't hold my feelings on the out. My face turn red and I really tried to hide it from him. "Okay you guys can go back to your tents. Or enjoy the night at the smores table." she announced.

"Come on." he guided me away from the crowd. "Where are we going?" I huffed. "Away from here." we ran to the other side of the campsite, where no one was around. I stopped in my tracks. "Listen here Eljiah." before I moved any closer to him, I made sure we had space in between us.

"If your about to tell me your a werewolf or Vampire, can I at least tell you I taste disgusting." I said nervously. He stared at me and dropped on the floor dying of laughter. "You think -- I'm a --- vampire?" he said in between his breathing. I scrunched up my face and stomped my body right back to the fire.

"Wait! I didn't mean to make you upset!" he pleaded with a couple of more chuckles. "I hate boys!" I groaned. "And I hate girls. You happy?" he yelled as he caught up to me." "Why are you always so grumpy?" he questioned. "I never wanted to go to this camp. I was forced. I'm a hostage. My parents made the instructors kidnap me." I pouted sitting on a rock.

"Well I came here because there was nothing else to do at my place." he told. "I bet your first day was boring." kicking a twig. "No it got really interesting... Once I met you." I turned around feeling his presence near me. He stepped closer to me and I could feel his air.

"Personal space... Would ya." I mumbled looking into his eyes. He continued to lean in but I turned my head as the kiss landed on my cheek. "Um..we just met Elijah. And for all I know you could be a monster." I joked. "Right. Come on its late." he took my hand into his, and we walked back to the camp.

We walked back into the campsite. He lead me to my tent and we said our goodbyes. I noticed Sarah peeking from her tent with a mug face. I smirked and crawled into my tent. "How was your date?" Amber said causing me to fall on my sleeping bag.

"I'll ignore what you just said." I changed my clothes into Pj's and snugged down into my sleeping bag. "I'll just ask again tomorrow. And don't try to fake sleep as I do either." I watched as she got comfy and soon enough she was fast asleep.

I lay on my pillow and thought about what Amber blabbed about. "It wasn't a date." I rolled my eyes letting the sleep overcome me.
