Chapter 9-Pandemonium

Sam's POV

I was enjoying this.

This was fun.

Everyone in the room was leaning forward in anticipation of Anna's answer, which we all knew.

And then, the door banged open, and Rachel and Sarah had walked in.

And it had been utter pandemonium.

Gayle sprung back to his feet, Anna stood where she was, probably shell-shocked, me and Kyle and Grace and Malcolm jumped up.

There was silence for a long moment.

And then, Anna said, "Yes Gayle, I will"

Amidst all the hooting and cheering, I made my way to Rachel and Sarah, who looked flummoxed.

"Long story", I explained.

"I have time.", Rachel said to me. "And as for you,", she said to Anna, "start speaking. Now."

"Um, I'm sure someone else would like to explain, right?", Anna said, looking around at us.

No one said anything. An awkward silence descended upon us.

At that moment, the bell rang, making us jump for the second time today.

"perfect timing", I muttered.

"OK, y'all, so we have 2 choices. Either we bunk this period, which I'm all for, or we go back to class, which I'm not for at all. Also, my birthday is coming in a few days, so I suggest you all listen to ME.", Anna said.

"Sorry to break this to you guys, but we've got biology now, and knowing her, she's gonna suspend us for coming 3 seconds late.", Grace said.

"I wouldn't mind", I said, but we all unanimously agreed to get back to class.

At the door just before we parted, Kyle took my hand, and wrote something on it. Then, winking at me, he left with Malcolm and Gayle.

"So", Rachel asked, "anyone mind telling me what happened just now?"

No one answered. No one wanted to answer. We ourselves didn't know what had happened in there properly.

Wordlessly, I started walking towards the class. Everyone started following me, and I fell into pace with Rachel.

We walked in silence until we reached the class.

Thankfully, the teacher wasn't there yet.

I sat in my chair, between Rachel and Grace, in front of Joelle and Lavender.

"Where have you guys been?", Joelle asked as Lavender looked on.

I couldn't tell anyone about this. It would become the most talked about event in the school, and would probably ruin my newfound friendship with Kyle.

"Nothing", I said with a fake smile. "Nothing at all"

I turned around, and caught sight of what Kyle had written on my hand.

It was a number, and I didn't need to be a genius, (though I was) to know whose it was.

I smiled happily, and tried for once to listen to the biology teacher's drawling voice, explaining the mechanisms of the human heart.

Kyle's POV

I hoped she understood it was my number. From what I remembered, she was smart.
