All we do is drive

August 2nd

It's my dad's birthday and I'm halfway back to my hometown from playing the shows about 6 hours away.

I was an hour away and I got a call. I didn't know this number so I ignored it as usual. Then 5 minutes later Sydney called me.

"J-Jordan. Come," her voice was shaking.

"C-Come home. Now." She said.

"What why?"

"Yo-you-your umm... Okay. There was a crash. Your dad he. He umm. He was in it." She said.

"Oh my." I said and felt the tears come to my eyes.

Not again. Not now.

I hung up the phone driving as fast as I could without breaking the speed limit.

I made it back in 45 minutes getting off the highway.

Then I saw it. My dads car. Another one. Wreaked. A lot of people working on cleaning up the mess.

I drove to the hospital running out of the car. So many people were around. My vision blurred. My hands. Whole body shaking. Tears in my eyes going onto my cheeks.

My life slowly breaking down.

I had flash backs to the crash with my mom.

Flashback

"Jordan!" I heard my dad call.

"Where is she where are they!" My dad called out to the people around him. I could barely see.

Where's mom. Why can't I see anything. We where in the car.

Where's my dad.

"You're gonna be okay sweetie." I heard a women say but not my mom.

I slowly feel into sleep.

(Now this goes into a third person pov)

The cars were jammed together. It's surprising how anyone could survive this.

The driving of the other car died a few moments ago. The child is in critical condition with the mother dead on impact.

What is suspected to be the husband and father is losing his mind trying to find out what happen.

He finds the mother. His wife. She lays on the ground. Blood everywhere. Her body almost unrecognized except for the blood stained blonde hair.

The father runs.

"No no, please don't be, no!" He said tears falling as people hold him back away from her.

"Sir, please, we are trying to help." A man said to him.

They bring the two to a hospital. The child is very young. In fact it's almost her birthday.

What a shame this happened.

"Sir, I'm sorry. Your wife died on impact we did all we can." Is heard in the lobby with the sound of the fathers heartbreaking.

"No!" He said crying.

"I'm very sorry sir. It seems that your daughter will be okay, she will of course have to deal with survivors guilt."

The father nodded as the doctor went to check on the child. She laid there asleep in the hospital gown.

"She's going to go through so much pain." A doctor said to a nurse.

"I know. So young. She's strong though. She'll make it through." The nurse said.

"She will. Oh the poor child."

End of flashback in Jordans pov now

I ran in looking for the desk.

"Hi, I'm looking for my da- John." I said.

"John who?"

"John Throne."

"He's not open for visiting."

"But I'm family."

"Doesn't matter sweetie."

"But-I."

I walked away to my seat. I looked at my phone seeing the many messages from Sydney.

Jordan are you okay.

Jordan!

What the fuck answer me.

Should I tell Patrick?

Jordan!

2 missed calls.

I called her back telling her I was okay and at the hospital. She was on her way.

Patrick.

How do I tell him his.

I looked down at my hands doing the thing I do when I get anxiety. Tapping each of my fingers together with my thumb.

I picked up my phone calling Patrick.
No answer.

I didn't want to call again he's probably on stage.

I texted him.

Hey I'm at the hospital. It's for my dad just call me when you can, love you baby.

I sent it and looked around the hospital. Many sad people sat around waiting to hear about their family members.

Sydney walked in and frantically looked for me. She found me and ran over.

"Oh my god are you okay." She asked.

"Well my dads in the hospital how good do you think I am?" I said.

"Sorry I'm worried about you." She said and sat down.

"I'm sorry just. I lost my mom and I-"

"Jordan, your dad will be fine." She said.

We sat watching doctors, nurses, families all walk by. People in wheelchairs and people crying. Happy people hugging others.

Small children being carried out in mom and dads arms.

So many emotions in one building.

I kept looking at my phone seeing the time pass by. Nothing from the doctors. No text from Patrick. No anything.

I sat clueless.

It wasn't till 2 hours later that a doctor came with to the front desk and the women working pointed to me.

I got up Sydney following behind.

"Are you Mr.Thrones daughter?" He asked.

"I am." I said shaking.

"I'm sorry dear but he passed away, multiple things had happened all at once and his body couldn't handle it."
