"you won't stop smiling, tell me what's up." i confront calum as he grins widely at the open road before him.
his hand are glued to the steering wheel and he can't help but look dazed and lovesick.
"calum. calum. calum. calum!" i repeat his name, over and over again.
"i swear to god, if another sounds escapes your mouth i'm kicking you out the car," calum threatens. his dark brown eyes flicker up to glare at me before he looks back at the road and makes a smooth right turn.
show off.
i purse my lips and rest my forehead on the window as i watch trees blur together because of how fast calum's driving. it's no where as near as fast as i drive though, he's staying within the limits like the annoyingly good driver he is.
my thoughts go to bryana. today's saturday, the day of her anniversary. i hope she's not crying because of her boyfriend's absence.
i turn around and scowl at calum to distract myself. i watch him stare thoughtfully at the road, his eyebrows furrowed up with complete concentration. because of that, he only had to take his drivers test once.
unlike me.
i notice a white police car following us and a blond quiff sticking out the open window. i smile smugly. no matter how heartless it makes me sound, i hope calum gets a ticket.
i'd like the tables to be turned.
i watch luke as he awkwardly pulls his gangly body out of the car that's too small for his large figure and walk over to my car. there's a bounce in his step, a shine in his eyes and a huge dopey grin on his lips. it slowly fades away and leaves him frowning when calum cranks the window down.
"hey officer pickle," i greet, putting my hand up and waving.
"who are you?" luke asks rather rudely to calum. his dark blond eyebrows pull down and he gives calum the dirtiest look i've ever seen on his face.
"calum hood sir," calum forces out weakly.
he has always struggled to talk to authorities. important people usually make him clam up.
"i mean, why are you driving my michael- i mean, er michael around?" luke blushes slightly as he stumbles over his words.
"because he sucks at driving and because he's my roommate?" calum replies unsurely.
"since when?" luke asks, his glare and voice hardening.
"since 2013 or so," calum answers.
luke gives calum such a nasty look, i nearly piss my pants. he was as if luke didn't want calum driving me around; almost like he was jealous.
"what's up officer pickle? why'd you pull us over?" i ask, smirking slightly.
"i was just going to ask you if you think bryana would prefer roses or lilies." luke states through his clenched teeth.
"why does it matter? you're ditching her, aren't you?" i ask rhetorically as i already knew the answer.
"i was lying. i have her favourite chocolates in the car and i'm about to take a stop at the flower store to pick up a bouquet. i'm surprising her. i mean, i can't let my girlfriend sit at home alone on our anniversary." luke grins lovingly at the thought of girlfriend he thinks too highly of.
i grimace to myself as i realize what's about to unfold. bryana's not alone, she invited ashton over. when luke gets home, he'll witness bryana fucking another guy under his own roof.
this isn't going to end well.
"um. bryana told me that she liked those nice flowers that you can only get in italy. why don't you fly over there and pick a few of them?" i suggest weakly.
luke laughs, his bright blue eyes tinkling happily.
only i know that within a few hours, those same happy eyes will be miserable red with tears.
"i'll just pick up the biggest bouquet in the store. she'll like that. see you around michael." luke waves at me.
he gives calum a death glare as he walks back to his police vehicle.
"what the fuck just happened?" calum asks, looking completely lost.
i'm too frazzled to answer. i pat around frantically in search of my phone. i need to warn bryana.
even though i'm upset with her, i don't want luke finding out this way. i don't want luke to be broken hearted.
i finally find my sleek black phone in my coat pocket and pull it out. i press on the home button repeatedly but my phone doesn't response. i groan and bang my head to the window when i realize that my phone is dead.
"calum, give me your phone!" i yell at him.
"can't. i left my phone at vivian's place," calum shrugs.
for a moment, my inner bro comes out and i beam; forgetting about bryana and luke completely. "why exactly is it at vivian's house? calum, you dirty, dirty boy! what have you been up to?"
calum's face flushes red and he forced himself not to smile. "nothing like that. we just talked. we may or may not have kissed a couple times, but overall we didn't do anything inappropriate."
"get some man!" i smile widely.
calum blushes even harder and his hands grip at the steering wheel tightly.
"i'll take her to dinner first, then i'll 'get some'." calum grins widely. "only if she's okay with it though. i'm not going to force her to do anything she's uncomfortable with."
"fuck. my heart cannot handle the feels." i grin so widely, the corners of my mouth actually hurt.
"neither can my dick."
