i wake up dreary and thirsty. i have a pounding headache, it makes it hard to think properly.

when i finally come to my senses, i realize that i'm in a hospital bed. a bunch of wires and cords are attached to my body. i blink around the blinding white room.

"it's about time you woke up," a sweet voice states.

i look over to source of the voice and i see a red haired girl. she's wearing a pair of white scrubbers and holding a brown clipboard. she's pretty. she has bright emerald green eyes and a pair of deep dimples.

a terrible thought flashes through my mind.

"what do you mean it's about time i woke up?" i demand loudly. "how long have i been asleep? what year is it! is trump president?"

"calm down, calm down!" she hurries to say.

"answer me woman! if trump's president, i'm going to knock myself out and i won't wake up until there's a new president!" i ramble.

"you really shouldn't get yourself all worked up. your body can't handle it," the nurse states calmly.

i sigh and rest my back on the uncomfortable bed. i stare expectantly at her.

"okay. most important things first, you've been unconscious for-" the red haired girl starts.

"that's not the most important thing! is trump president or not?" i screech loudly at her.

"no! he isn't!" she exclaims loudly. "you've only been unconscious for five days! the world has hardly changed!"

"five days? that's it?" i ask with disbelief.

"yes. however, since your head has gotten most of the impact from smashing through the window, you have a open skull fracture." she explains.

"what's that suppose to mean?" i ask dumbly.

"it's also known as a compound fracture. it occurs when the skin is broken and the bone emerges." the nurse continues talking.

"that sounds disgusting," i shudder.

the nurse doesn't reply to that. instead she hums. "there's someone waiting for you. he swings by everyday. i'm sure he'd be overjoyed to finally see you."

"who? let him in!" i demand.

"not yet," the nurse clicks her tongue. "we must run through some tests first."

she makes me do some strange things. she firstly checks my blood pressure, breathing and other things i don't quite understand. then she makes me move my arms and legs. while she works through all these so-called 'tests' she chats nonstop.

"you had broken glass in your wound. it was a hassle to get out." she states absentmindedly.

i bite my tongue to stop myself from making a rude comment.

"you're lucky to only have a skull fracture after a crash like that. by no means am i saying that having a skull fracture is lucky, but having that as your only injury --aside from the cuts and bruises of course-- is quite a miracle." the nurse continues to ramble.

"mhm," i murmur.

i wonder who's been waiting for me. probably calum. or maybe even vivian.

"your license has been suspended but it's only fair. you could've harmed a lot of people with that reckless driving, it's a surprise that it hasn't been suspended earlier." the nurse doesn't even stop to take a breath.

"my license has been suspended?" i repeat, dumbfounded.

"yeah. the cop who found you on the scene suspended it immediately." the nurse answers.

"but- but-" i gasp.

"hm. well you're good. we'll need to check up on you again in half an hour but right now you appear alright. i'll just allow the visitor to come on it." the nurse smiles sweetly.

i feel numb. the happiness of knowing that someone cares about me so much that they'll wait everyday to see me washes away.

suddenly the door creeks open and a tall figure flings itself towards me. i yelp and wait for the body to crash into mine but it never does.

instead i feel a gentle, caressing touch.

bright blue eyes stare down at me and i immediately connect them to luke.

i should be feeling happy and over thrilled, but all i feel is a sense of dread and anger.

"it was you, wasn't it?" i ask stonily.

"what?" luke asks.

"you're the cop who suspended my license?" i ask, emotionlessly.

"well yeah! it's not safe for you to be driving around like that, i don't want to lose you." luke replies nonchalantly.

he tries to reach for my pale, cold hand but i move it away.

"fuck off," i glare at him.

"hey, don't be like that. it's only for the best michael." luke states comfortingly.

"i don't care, get out!" i scream at him.

"no. i won't," luke replies calmly.

"i'll call someone. i'll call that redhead! get out now!" i threaten him.

"you would never get rid of me," luke states smartly.

"it that so?" i glare at him.

"yes. it is." luke shrugs.

we have an intense stare off for a moment, his blue eyes stare into my green ones. it seems like ages but i finally give in.

"exactly," luke smirks.

"i hate you," i frown.

"thanks babe."
