We walk through the doors of the Walmart, heading to the frozen foods section again. Dimitrio hops from shelf to shelf, poking boxes with his beak.
I look through the glass doors and pull one open.
I grab a container of flavored yogurt, it says Yoplait on the front, and hold it out to Dimitrio.
"Wanna get it?"
He bobs his head.
I pull out a couple more containers and hold them in my arms as we walk down the aisle.
Suddenly, an arrow sprouts from my shoulder, making me drop the containers.
Gritting my teeth, I look up, seeing a grinning face. A figure hangs from the rafters.
"Surprise."
It jumps down, forming into a curvy woman with short, brutally dyed pink hair. Her black eyes glimmer at me like a smirk.
"Well, well, if it isn't the little princccceee and his little ssssservant."
A serpentine tongue flicks out of her mouth, tasting the air. I glare at her, my eyes burning.
She flicks her tongue again. She charges forward, her eyes narrowing into dark slits. Her skin sprouts shiny black scales, her fingers stretching into thick claws.
She rakes them across my chest, scratching it and tearing my jacket.
"Seriously?" I point to my chest. "I just got this!"
Dimitrio rolls his eyes. "Ready?"
In the distance, I hear people screaming and shoving each, trying to get out.
I listen carefully. To their thoughts. To their terrified screams.
They flowed through me, purple streams of dark energy tightening my muscles.
"Ready."
Dimitrio flies off my shoulder, up onto the rafters.
I rush forward, flipping on my side, smashing my foot into the side of her head.
I hear a crunch and the demoness collapses. She jumps back up, gripping a knife between her claws. Grinning, she slices my chest, cutting off the rest of my shirt. Lines of dark red blood stain my chest. Rivers of it swim down, dripping off the edge of my stomach.
The screams of the humans trying to run grow stronger. Sharper. Harder.
I feel myself getting taller. My arms gaining muscles. My jeans start ripping as my legs get thicker. I feel my jaw squaring off. I feel my shoulders broadening. I feel horns jut out my skull, sending purple hair into my eyes.
I grin at the demoness.
"Surprise."
I lunge forward, scooping her up by her neck, slamming her into the glass door.
She smirks, blood dripping from her forehead. She leans forward, kissing me on the cheek.
I look at her, hard.
She's see-through now, fading away slowly.
"Your father says hello."
She fades away completely, an after image of her flicking her tongue left behind.
