What is your favorite book by another author?

It may seem cheesy, predictable, or not worthy enough, but if my favorite book is determined by the number of times I've read it, then this is that book.

I was urged to read the Harry Potter series by my oldest daughter after Order of the Phoenix had come out, and I promised her I'd read it over the summer.  I figured that was enough time to work my way through the series, but I ended up reading all five of them in a few weeks.

It would be an understatement to say I fell in love with the series.  I became obsessed with it, and I can honestly say it's the biggest influence on how I write my own stories.

Goblet of Fire was the largest of the books up to that time, and had scads of everything that made the series so wonderful - humor, action, drama, suspense, tragedy, with the addition of budding romance.  It's still my favorite in the series, although Deathly Hallows is a close second.  I'll also say the movie was a huge disappointment.  They cut out so much...  :(

If you haven't read the Harry Potter series because you think it's a kiddy series, or if you read the first one and thought it was just alright, do yourself a favor and dive in.  They truly deserve the hype they received.
