Chapter 16:

Lucy's POV:

Emily and Kelsey come over the next morning. They are sitting in my living room. Kelsey says, " So why did you call us in the middle of the night. Nothing is that important when we are looking for our daughter."

" It is about your daughter. I didn't tell you the whole truth last night. I wasn't lying when I said I didn't know where she is. However I was lying when I told you that I didn't know what was going on with her. A woman named Jasmine came to me and had me do something that I didn't want to do. She told me if I didn't do it then Zane would be hurt. She had another woman named Mia with her. They told me if I told anyone then I would go to jail. However even though I did it Jasmine still told Zane that she was supposedly her aunt."

Kelsey and Emily gasp. Kelsey says, " What did they have you do? What in the world did they have over you?"

" They had the fact that Zane and I was dating over me. They made me break up with her. I didn't want to tell you that I was dating your daughter because I didn't know how you would have reacted."

Emily says, " Do you not know about Kelsey and my past. If I wouldn't have dated my teacher then I would not have been as happy as I have been over the years. Kelsey was my teacher when we met. I might not want my daughter to go down the same path but at the same time as long as you make her happy then that is all I care about."

Kelsey nods in agreement. I say, " I'm so sorry for not telling you. I should have just told you. What is the story with this Jasmine person."

Emily says, " She is Zane's aunt but she is also my ex fiancee. She was the sister of Zane's real mom who was my bestfriend. There is a lot of history there. So she probably told Zane about her real parents. One of us need to head to the cemetery, another needs to find out where Jasmine is staying, and the third needs to go to the park where Zane goes when she is sad."

Kelsey says, " I'm good at finding out where people live so I will do that. If Zane is at the graves then she won't want to see you Emily so you go to the park. Lucy you go to the graves. Emily will tell you where it is."

I nod. As soon as Kelsey has an address and Emily tells me where the graves are we all leave.

I drive to the cemetery. I get out and walk to the grave. There is a little bench right infront of the graves and that is where Zane is sitting. She is alone so I walk up to her. She looks up and then looks away.

I say, " Baby girl I'm so sorry. It killed me breaking up with you. I was trying to protect you. Jasmine came to me and told me if I didn't breakup with you that she would hurt you by telling you a family secret. I didn't know what the family secret was. I love you Zane please forgive me."

She starts crying on my shoulder. I rub her back and just let her cry on my shoulder. Not long after Jasmine shows up. She says, " Zane let's go home. You don't need to be around this person she is bad for you."

I say, " Baby girl please come home with me. You don't have to see your parents but I want to know that you are safe."

" You will be safe with me Zane. I am your family not this woman who just breaks up with you for no reason."

Zane yells, " Just stop! I didn't tell you about our breakup so what my love says about you is true! Lucy I'm gonna go home with you but it doesn't mean that we are back together."

The fact that she called me her love gives me hope. I get up and put my arm around her leading her away from this Jasmine person. When we get to the car I open her door and buckle her up. I walk to my side and get in. I send a quick text to Emily and Kelsey letting them know Zane is safe but that she doesn't want to see them right now.

I drive us to my place. When we get there I open her door and then walk us into my house. We head up to my room. I decide to sing to her.
