Chapter 7
The ride to Brooke's was short and quiet. Once we arrived, we walked up to the front door and Brooke opened her bag, searching for a key.
"Hey, girls!" Brooke's mum said, opening the door from the inside before Brooke even managed to find her key.
"Hello, Mrs. Michaels." I said, giving her a warm smile.
"Ugh, that makes me sound so old! Please, call me Patty." she held out her arms in front of her body, motioning for me to hug her.
"Come on, then, ebs. We'll go get jammies on and watch a film! You can chose." she pulled me by the wrist to the bottom of her stairs before deciding I was capable enough to walk up the stairs myself.
"I missed your mum. She's so nice."
Brooke snorted. "Sometimes I wonder if she likes you better than me!" she said, faking hurt. "Come on, I bought muchies earlier."
I smiled and we began walking up the stairs towards her room. When we entered her room I kicked off my shoes and plopped down on the large double bed in the far end of her room.
Brooke went over to her chest of drawers, threw her small bag on the floor at the side of it and began rummaging in her top drawer. After a minute she grinned and held up a t-shirt in front of her body, turning to face me.
"No way am I wearing that!" I said, turning my nose up at the horrible pyjama top she was waggling in front of her.
In all the times I stayed at Brooke's, I have never brought my own bag of things. We were the same size so I just stole her clothes, I had my own tooth brush in her en-suite bathroom and anything else I needed I borrowed from her.
After a minute she laughed - probably at my protesting face - and put the t-shirt back in her drawer. "I thought you still liked 'Hello Kitty'?"
I simply looked at her and she laughed again and handed me out a pair of me to you jammies shorts and t-shirt. These were the jammies I always wore here. I think I have worn them more than her.
I pulled off my clothes and folded them on her desk chair, not bothering to even go and change in the bathroom. After all, we used to share a bath when we were three! Brooke did the same, changing into a light blue spaghetti strap t-shirt and a pair of darker blue shorts.
"Okay, what movie shall we watch?" Brooke asked excitedly.
"Hm, a comedy? I'm in the mood for a comedy."
"Yes! Me, too. Surprise me."
"Sure." I murmured.
I walked over to her DVD collection and scammed through it, looking for 'Dinner For Smucks'. She skipped passed me and out he door, calling "Muchies!"
I pushed the disc into the DVD player and turned it on, grabbing the remote and pulling all of the pillows from her window seat to her bed and got comfy.
She came back a minute later, he hands over flowing with bottles of juice, packets of crisps and sweets and empty bowls. She laid them on the bed wiping her forehead whilst I just laughed at her bad acting skills. She put the sweets and crisps in each of the different coloured plastic bowls and poured to juices which she handed to me to put on the drawer next to me.
I pressed play and she got comfy next to me. "Eboni, were you okay tonight? You seemed off."
"Yeh, I'm fine." she scowled when she saw that I was lying. Damn, she could see right through me! "We'll talk about it later. Come on, let's just watch the film."
