"What do you mean?" I asked Chris, who was on the phone.
After getting home from the bookstore at the mall with Mary, Chris called me. His team ran into some unforeseen complications in their mission. He won't be home till next Friday.
"I'm really sorry, Claire." Chris said, over the phone. "Will you be okay while I'm gone?"
"Yeah, I'll manage." I replied, slightly disappointed. I wanted to spend the weekend with him.
"Alright. Call me if you have any problems." he said. "Though, a tough girl like you? You probably won't need to."
I chuckled at his comment. He was overestimating me.
"Mkay. See you on Friday." I said.
"See ya." he said, as he hung up.
I placed the materials that Mary and I bought on the couch. Earlier, the two of us went to the bookstore to buy art materials needed for the project. I walked over to the backyard and let Keido in the house. Since I had no homework whatsoever, I decided to play video games. Specifically, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.
After a certain amount of time, my phone began ringing.
"Yo." I answered the phone while shooting someone in-game.
"Hey, Claire!" Paula said in reply.
"Hey, Paula." I said, blowing another player up with a grenade. "What'd you need?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me and Ruth in the mall." she said.
"Oh? What about Mary?"
"She has that wedding to attend to remember?" she replied, reminding me.
"Ah, right." I said, remembering. "So, meeting place and time?"
"Yay!" she squealed. "Uhm, Starbucks, and 10:30 am."
"Cool, see you then."
"See ya!" she hung up. I then continued playing.
----------------
After feeding Keido the next morning, I exited my house and rode the bus, en route to the mall. I arrived at Starbucks, and didn't find Paula and Ruth, so I went up to the second floor. There, I saw not only Paula and Ruth, but Vince and his friends as well. Even if I'm not in good terms with Vince, I don't mind his friends. I walked up to them and noticed that Vince was wearing an eye patch over his left eye.
"Hey Claire!" Paula and the others greeted me, aside from Vince. He seemed deep in thought.
"Uh, hey guys. Sorry I'm late." I awkwardly said. "What's the occasion?"
"Nothing, we just randomly met Paula and Ruth in here." Zeke, the guy I was closest to in their clique, said.
"They were just hanging out here when we came up to find a table." Ruth added.
"Yas, hanging out just fine before these losers came in." Lorenzo, the comedian of the group, jokingly said in a white girl accent.
Paula, Ruth, and I continued to hang out with the guys. All while Vince stayed quiet.
Strange.
After finishing our drinks, I was about to leave with everyone else when Lorenzo pulled my sleeve.
"We should go too." I told him.
"Can I just confirm something?" he asked, smiling.
"Uh, sure." I replied. He took a few moments of silence before he spoke.
"How do you feel?"
"Hm? What do you mean?" I asked.
"How do you feel about Vince?" he reiterated.
So that's what you were going for, Lorenzo.
"I couldn't care less, honestly." I replied, knowing that he'll inform Vince. "I feel fine as long as he doesn't bother me."
"I see." he said, nodding. "That's all I needed to know. Let's go."
"He got in a fight, just so you know." he whispered, and a chill went down my spine.
We went down the stairs to the exit, where everyone was waiting. I wasn't bothered to get an explanation.
"Where've you been?" Paula asked.
"Oh, we were jus-" I was interrupted by Lorenzo.
"Making out." he said. I punched his arm. "Ow!"
"Gross." I remarked. "Anyway, we need to get going."
"Yeah, see you later, guys!" Ruth said to Vince and the others.
"See ya!" Zeke said, as they left.
After they left, Paula nudged me. "So...Lorenzo huh?" she said.
"Ew, no." I replied. I really didn't like the guy. Although, I always thought that he was kinda cute. "Let's just, go around the mall or something."
After that, we went around the mall, going into different all sorts of stores. We went around looking at clothes, video games, anime merchandise, and animals. Safe to say, we were just checking the stores out, not buying anything. Soon enough, it was lunch time. The three of us headed to the food court.
"Vince and his friends are fun to be with." Ruth randomly said while eating.
"Yeah, they are." I replied. Sometimes I hang out with them, so I can attest to that.
"Though, aren't you on bad terms with Vince?" Ruth said, earning my attention and Paula's.
"Uh, where'd you hear that from Ruth?" Paula asked.
"Henry told me." she replied.
Henry? How did he know? I only told Paula, Mary, and Chris...Unless Vince decided to go gossip or something, which I think is unlikely.
"Oh, sorry, is it a sensitive topic?" Ruth asked. "I'm sorry!"
"Nah, it's cool." I said, shrugging it off. "Though, I don't really wanna talk about it."
After lunch, we continued going around the mall for the rest of the day, and eventually ending our trip with ice skating. All while I was curious about why the pirate got into a fight.

Author's Note:
So hey again guys! Thanks for reading the story until this chapter. Though, I won't be able to update for a while since I'll be going to the US to attend a wedding, and I don't think I'll have enough time to post a new chapter. I'll be back by June 2. I'll be trying to come up with ideas for this story while I'm there though. Because I love incorporating my experiences into stories. Soo, yeah. Sorry for the inconvenience. Anyways, thanks again for reading up till this chapter! I definitely won't discontinue this story.
P.S. Lily Collins's picture on the top. She plays as Paula Walker in this story.
