The weekend passed by quickly, much to my dismay. Nothing much happened the day after I hung out with my friends last Saturday, I just spent it playing video games and grooming Keido before dropping her off at Paula's place, due to the incoming project.
I arrived at my classroom after the morning assembly, seeing only Mary and Paula inside. I approached them and sat down beside Paula.
I yawned. "Hey, guys." I said. "Where were you two during the assembly?"
They both looked at each other, and laughed. I gave them a confused look.
After a few seconds of laughter, Paula spoke. "We were both late." she said.
"Though, we escaped the disciplinarian." Mary said.
"Nice." I said, fist bumping both of them. "What made both of you late though?"
"Mary was giving me a ride since my parents can't today." Paula said. "Then, some guy bumped us from behind."
"Oh, damn." I said. "Was it bad?"
"My car was just dented." Mary replied. "Though, the guy was nice enough to pay for the damage, and refer us to a good mechanic."
"That's great, when are you getting your car back?" I asked.
"Later, this afternoon, thankfully." Mary said. "It could've been worse, the engine kinda dies sometimes."
"We asked the mechanic to check on that too." Paula said. "So, it's all good."
"Alright, great!" I said. "Walking would've been really inconvenient, given how cold it is today."
At that moment, our classmates entered in groups. We bid Paula goodbye for now, and, soon enough, everyone in our class was present. Even Axel. When he entered, he immediately looked my way and flashed a smile that made my eyes blink in confusion.
He doesn't smile. He just doesn't.
"Hey, Townsend." Axel greeted. I didn't even notice him approaching.
"Hey." I replied with a bored tone. "What do you need?"
"I'll work with you and Mary on the decorations." he said.
I know I misheard him. "Sorry, did you just say that you'll help us?" I said, laughing a bit.
He raised an eyebrow, with an amused look. "I didn't say help, but, yep. That's what I said." he said.
Realization hit me. "Oh. You're serious, aren't you?" I said.
"Yep." he replied. Mary and I looked at each other. We both know what each other was thinking.
What the fuck?
Well, I guess this time he really does wanna help. For some reason.
"Well, Axel, I'll have to go talk to our officers, and see what they think." I said. His face turned into a slight frown before I walked away. I approached Philip, and tapped his back.
"Hey, Claire." he said, after turning to face me. "What's up?"
"Hey, Phil. Axel was wondering if he could help me and Mary with the decorations."
"No. We need all the help we can get for making the food and recording the sales." he said. "Besides, he's pretty useless, you know? He'll just be a burden to you."
I was taken aback by what he said. I know Axel has a horrible rep but, it's this bad?
"Uh, what do you mean?" I asked, frowning.
"Well, you already know what people say about him. Plus, he doesn't even care about his grades. Do you really think he'll help you on this?" he said, scoffing. "He should probably just give free hugs to our customers or something. Just so more students would buy from us."
Wow, I never knew Philip could be such a douchebag. Even if Axel is an annoying, and egotistic prick, nobody should be treated like this.
"Uh huh. Mkay, I'll let him know." I said, dropping the conversation and walking away. I don't think Axel's a horrible person...I just think he has a horrible attitude. There's a difference. I don't think Philip would change his mind about Axel either.
I walked back to Axel and Mary. The former was sitting on my chair, while the latter was just minding her own business. Axel stood up once I got near.
"Well?" he asked, with a straight face. He doesn't seem to expect a good answer, which is probably for the best.
"He said no." I said flatly.
"And?" he asked. I tilted my head in confusion. "What else did he say?"
"Is that really necessary?" I asked. I don't think hearing Philip's insults would make his already bad mood better.
He was silent for a few seconds. "I guess not." he said. I have a feeling that he already knew. "I'll see you later."
Well, that was abrupt. I kinda feel sorry for the guy. I'll have to make it up to him later for being such a bitch.
Author's Note:
Hi friends! So, sorry for the late post and the short chapter. Things like jet lag, adjusting to the heat, enrolment, and a bitching mother and father got in the way. Buuut, nevertheless, I am back. Though school is like, around the corner, so that sucks. I'll definitely try to update on weekends though. Really good to be back though.
P.S. Picture above is Ryan Kwanten, who plays as Vince Henderson!
