I woke up on a bed, slightly feeling like shit. I opened my eyes and saw the ceiling of the room that I was in. I felt something cold and wet on my forehead. I sat up, rubbing my eyes, and the towel that was previously on my forehead fell to my lap. I scanned the room that I was in.
The room was sky blue, with various posters on the wall. Most of which are DC Comics characters and movie posters. There was a door leading to a bathroom, various cabinets, a widescreen TV in front of the bed I was on, two large windows beside the bed where light passed through, and the whole room was carpeted.
I remembered the cut on my arm and proceeded to touch it. I saw that it was bandaged, and not just that. Even my left palm was bandaged. I didn't even notice that I had an injury there. I looked around the room but there was nobody there.
'Where am I?' I asked myself, feeling slightly lightheaded. I lied down again trying to remember yesterday's events. Moments later, the door to the room opened and a familiar face came in.
Axel.
I dunno if it's me being lightheaded, but I didn't feel as surprised as I would expect myself to be. If anything, I was relieved that I ended up in a classmate's house.
"Hey, you're awake." Axel said, closing the door behind him. He walked towards the bed and sat down beside my feet. "How're you feeling?"
"I feel better than yesterday." I said, weakly smiling at him. "Thanks a lot for taking me in."
"Don't mention it. I gotta check your temperature." He said as he moved closer to me.
"I got a cold huh?"
"Yeah." Axel said as he gently placed his hand on my forehead. He placed his hand on and off my forehead and my neck. I felt slightly uncomfortable due to how close Axel was, but I shrugged it off because I knew that he was just taking care of me.
After feeling my temperature, he said, "Your temperature seems to be normal now. Though, we need to be sure. Do you mind if we use a thermometer?"
"Not at all." I replied.
Axel then walked over to one of his cabinets and pulled out a thermometer. After checking the thermometer, he walked over to me and handed it to me. I placed the thermometer in my mouth and Axel sat down beside me.
"You feel cold? I could give you more blankets and a jacket." He asked.
I just shook my head. It was then that I noticed how good Axel was at taking care of people, or at least, taking care of me. I never thought that I'd see a side of him that's so caring. After waiting for a few minutes, Axel took the thermometer from my mouth and checked my temperature.
"37.1 degrees Celsius. Your temp's pretty much normal now." He sighed in relief. "You scared the shit out of me when you got here."
"Sorry, I was desperate." I said, looking away from him.
"No big deal. If anything, I'm just glad you're safe." He said, making me look at him. He had a warm smile on his face. Something that I thought I'd never see as well. This day was just full of surprises. "You okay to talk about what happened?"
"Yeah, I am." I said. I then proceeded to talk about what happened last night.
Axel was looking at me with a straight face, and his eyes were meeting mine. I could clearly see in his eyes that he was enraged, and that made me uncomfortable, so I tried to switch the topic.
"Do you live here alone?" I asked.
"Yeah, I do." He said, shifting his gaze away from me. "It's just you and me here."
Due to how close he was to me, I noticed that his eyes were slightly red and had small eye bags underneath them. He looked tired. My guess is that he was up all night taking care of me, which made me guiltier. I then sat up and placed my hand on his shoulder, which made him look at me again.
"You look like you haven't slept at all last night." I said. "You should get some rest too."
"I can't. You might have a relapse." Axel said.
"Don't worry, I still feel like getting more rest. So you really have nothing to worry about." I assured him.
After what seemed like forever, he finally spoke up. "Alright, fine. But if you feel anything weird, don't hesitate to call me." Axel then stood up and headed for the door. I then sighed and lied back down.
"Hey,Claire." Axel said standing in the doorway, making me slightly jump. "I'mreally happy you're okay."
After Axel left, a warm feeling came over me. It was nice to know that he cared about me, although it felt slightly weird for him to say my name. He'd always call me by my last name, after all. I then closed my eyes and went into another deep sleep.
