"Here you have some money, so that you can buy something to eat on the way." She said holding my wrist and putting the money in my hand. "Did you say goodbye to everyone? I hope you didn't forget anyone." She added tugging me into a strong hug.
"Mom you should let me go." I tried wriggling out of her grasp. "I'll miss my train if you continue like that." She finally let go and stared my eyes.
"My little child is leaving like that, and you want me to hurry up?" She complained dramatically. I laughed and hugged her lightly before running of while waving at her. If I stayed longer I would one miss my bus and two see my mom cry. I don't want neither of them happen.
Arrived at the train station, there were only a handful of people waiting for the train to Seoul. It didn't shock me, even though the destination is our capital, that there are this few people going there. After all we live in Sindong-eup and our population must be around 3,000 now. From afar I saw the train coming in so I pushed my luggage nearer to the rails.
Of course with my luck, the trained stopped making me stand in the middle of two doors. How o people do that the door is right in front of them when the train stops. I mean I take the train quite often and I never ended in front of a door. I always end up running to a door.
I searched for a place next to a window that would please me. After walking through a few wagon I was standing in a wagon with not one person in it, I was so happy I immediately sat next to the window with my luggage on the seat next to me. I had no choice but to put them there since I'm to small to reach the storage area, I would have to stand on the seats if would like to do so. It wouldn't be a problem right know since no one can see me, but I don't know if there will be people around when I'll have to take it back down.
I put on my earphones and quietly jammed as the wagon got fuller after each stop. With fuller I mean that at the stop where I had to change trains we were around 5 people in the wagon. I walked out of the train pulling my luggage behind me. I went to the platform my next train would arrive.
While waiting I called the boarding house where I would stay at.
"Hello?" Said the voice on the other side of the phone.
"Hello, it's Yoo Shinah ..." I answered
"Oh yes, yes, the young girl that is going to live in our boarding house right?" She cut me off happily.
"Ah yes, I'm currently at the station in Jecheon waiting for my train. So I should arrive in Seoul in about 2 ½ hours. I'll call you again when I'm there." I explained, my mom taught me to always let people know where I am so that if something happens they would know if take to much time.
"Sure, sure you should rest a bit in the train. I'm hanging up." I closed my phone and sat on a bench.
As the train arrived, I entered it and searched for a good place. Luckily there weren't lots of people in this train either so I easily found a place next to the window with not many people in the wagon. I fell asleep while looking out the window.
I walked out of the train, without my luggage. Someone was running after me with it, but I didn't stop walking. As soon as I stepped out of the train station, lots of people started screaming like there is no tomorrow. Reporters pushed each other and put their mikes under my nose yelling questions all at once. I couldn't understand even one of them so I continued walking without being bothered. A black van stopped in front of me, someone opened the door for me and I entered leaving the over exited reporters behind. Someone tapped my shoulder but I didn't look, the person didn't stop tapping until I opened my eyes.
I was sitting in the train. The train stopped at a station. I looked at the person that woke me up from my weird dream with a surprised expression.
"I'm sorry if I scared you ..." He tried to explain.
"Ah, no it's okay I wasn't scared." I answered so that he would calm down a bit. He seemed more stressed than I was.
"It's the last stop." I looked out the window "We are in Seoul, I hope this is where you wanted to go." He added as I turned back to face him.
"Yes, that's my destination, no need to worry. Aha" I laughed awkwardly. "Thank you for waking me up." I exclaimed standing up and taking my luggage. He left while I was making sure I didn't leave anything behind. I half ran out of the train station.
Soon after I found myself in the middle of a sea of people. Every single one of them was taller than me. I tried to find a way out of this mess before someone would walk on me not seeing me. I was now in front of a food market. Before forgetting it, I quickly called the boarding house lady to tell I arrived in Seoul and would take my time to go to the boarding house.
I walked in the market, it was really fascinating to so many people in one place. While walking my stomach growled. As a reflex I put my hand on it and looked around me to see if anyone heard it. Luckily it seemed like no one did. I stopped at a pajeon stand and ate while standing.
"Did you come alone?" The lady from the stand inquired. I nodded while eating peacefully. "Such a young kid what will you do here alone? Did you run away from home?" She added eying me. I shook my head energetically.
"NO no no, I didn't run away don't worry, I'm from the year of the rat, 1996. I'm going to go to the university here." I explained, as she smiled.
"You're a rat, that's good, I'm a rabbit. We have the best compatibility." She exclaimed cheerfully, she was really cute.
"That's great, I'll come back often then." I promised.
"Sure, sure, I'll give you a discount next time." She laughed. I payed her and started walking again.
After a while I heard music from afar so I followed it to see where it came from. I saw a girl about my age dancing in front of a little audience. More amazing than her dancing skills was that she seemed to be the same height as me. When the song ended she said out loud "Does someone want to have a dance battle with me?"
Since nobody seemed interested I raised my hand. After all I like taking challenges, and I used to dance until I was a sophomore and stopped for two years now. To be honest I wanted to know if my skills were the same as back then. I putted my luggage next to her stereo with my jacket. I quickly warmed up while jumping and then facing the girl.
"How old are you? I'm 19." She asked.
"I'm 19 too" I smiled at her. She turned the music on and started with simple footwork, I followed her doing similar moves showing her that I'm not just someone random accepting a dance battle, but that I know how to dance.
After the song ended people clapped and the went back to what they were doing.
"I didn't expect you to be this good. I'm Lee Jiho, and you?" She walked to me handing me a water bottle.
"Thanks, I'm Yoo Shinah. I used to dance since I was 5, but I stopped 2 years ago." I said while accepting the water bottle. "Where do you dance?"
"Ah since a few weeks I'm in an entertainment company, before that I only danced a bit in my schools dance club. I stopped after graduating and performed here to get a little money." She had to go back to her training so we parted our ways.
After walking for less than 5 minutes, I could feel someone following me. I turned around but I couldn't see anybody that looked like they were following me. I started walking again but faster than I did before. I heard the hurried footsteps of someone trying to catch up with me. At that I started running as if I was mad without looking who was following me.
