I’m resting my head on the window as I sit on my blue window seat. I gaze outside as the rain falls from the sky, I see two little kids playing in mud puddles in the rain.
A tear escapes my eye as I lightly rub my stomach where in the womb is a child, growing.
I close my eyes remembering the day I found out I was pregnant; I was hopeful like it wouldn’t be true; now I’m so scared, petrified.
Three months ago I was just your normal average teenager, leading an average normal life, doing your average teenage things.
Know I have a baby on the way, a thousand miles away is the father doing your average teenage things.
I snatch up my phone off the window sill.
I slowly scroll down the contacts, til I find Matt’s.
I take a deep breath then hit his name, putting the phone to my ear; I wait for him to answer.
“Hello, Bell,” Matt answered.
“Hi.”
“How are you?” he questioned.
“Matt we need to talk,” I stated.
“Sure about what? I’m all ears.”
I take a deep breath holding back the tears before answering, “This isn’t going to work out.”
“What’s not going to work out,” he asked warily.
“Us.”
“I don’t understand,” he said.
“This summer was just fun, it never was going anywhere,” I say bluntly.
“But Bell I-“
“Matt, I don’t like you. You should just move on… I already have.”
“So are you saying?” he wondered.
“It’s over… sorry if you thought we were a real couple, as I said it was just fun.”
“I-.”
I knew what he was going to say and I couldn’t hear it, the only thing that stops me from breaking down to tears, I just keep telling myself that it’s for the best.
“I never want to hear from you again,” I told him.
“What I don’t get it we had the best summer of our lives when did you start to feel this way?” Matt questioned.
“Towards the end of summer,” I informed him.
“Before or after we?” he asked.“Before… I just didn’t want to reject you. Sorry if you thought it meant anything.”
There was silent on the other end of the line, you could just hear him breathing.
“It’s over, goodbye Matt,” I said hanging up.
I threw my phone across the room, screaming at the top of lungs; tears streaming down my face like rivers.
“Bell are you okay?” Steph wondering knocking quietly on the door.
I shook my head not looking up, covering the pillow on my face.
“What’s wrong?” she asked taking a seat.
“We broke up,” I told her.
“That b*stard,” she muttered, “but it’s okay we’ll do it together. I’ll be here for you.”
“Thank you Steph,” we hugged each other, I looked over her shoulder biting my lip, hoping that life will get better.
I look down to my finger where the promise ring was.
“I’m sorry Matt.”
