Pain....ow....ow!
My eyes fly open as the point of my sword against my leg wakes me. I bend down and check the back of my knee to see if there are any cuts. A little scratch, that should be all. I lean back and close my eyes again and think about my many dreams I’ve just had, the glory days of Gielinor, the mighty wars, the overtaking of Varrock and setting up a kingdom in the ancient cursed land “the wilderness.” Then something startles me. I look up and see horses riding by, strange horses, large and black. The riders on top of them wielding straight black armor and duel edged swords with the symbols of the ancient Gielinor gods embalmed on the shields on their backs.
One yells at me, “Get up peasant and move to your hole in the ground” and spits at me. I begin to draw my sword but I look around, I don’t know where I am. This place is completely destroyed, all the buildings are crumbled, and there are few remaining.
I notice other small homes dug out of the hills, something is very wrong. When I went to sleep everything was beautiful and glorious, church bells ringing and children playing. I'm startled when I hear an old lady out of a house whispering, “Get in here you idiot,” I walk over to her and ask what in the world is going on. She shushes me and looks out the window as more horses go by. I hear screams and looked out the window as a young boy is being whipped. I don’t understand why but I’m not about to go outside yet. The woman looks at me, her eyes move up and down and stop on my sword. She asks to see it and for some reason, though out of the ordinary, I decide to draw it and hand it to her carefully. Her frail old fingers feel up and down and stop on the embroidered cross on the bottom of the blade. Her eyes widen, she looks and says
“There is only one man that wields a blade like this, you must be Danny Vain!”
“Yes?” I say in confusion.
“Where on earth have you been, how could you abandon us like that?!”
“I’ve been asleep for a few hours,” I say in further confusion.
“It’s been 25 Years!” she yells in protest. My mind is reeling, I don’t understand. The last Thing I remember is laying down on a hill next to the fish shop thinking about the glories I’ve experienced in Gielinor, going from the tyrant 'The Black Rebel', to saving the land and setting up the new capitol in the old wilderness.
I ask in bewilderment, “where am I?” she looks confused for a moment and gathers herself and says
“Oh, where are my manors, welcome to Lumbridge!”
