Chapter 1 Meeting

*Jake's pov*

Yesterday was my birthday and my gift was me being thrown out onto the street by my father. Personally I don't care but I could have used some time to get clothes and other stuff before he made me leave. Even though it was just the middle of summer the temperature was freezing and the constant wind didn't help. I was hoping to live a bit longer to wait for anyone to just take pity on me but I guess Mother Nature wants to just put me out of my misery. I wouldn't blame her because I wanted my life to end quickly as well. Yet it hasn't yet and I'm just going to see how this existence continues; happily or miserably with a quick death.

As I was walking down the street, my stomach growled and I spotted a diner a block away. While I walked to the diner I got out my 10 bucks hoping it was enough for a good final meal since that was all I had. Upon entering the diner, I noticed only the stereotypical female waitress behind the counter, the cook, and one other guy at a stool in front of the counter. The guy on the stool looked stunning as I got closer. I could only see the back of his head but he didn't look anything older than 18 like me. He had ruffled but spiky, shining silver hair. He was as skinny as me but looked to be at least an inch taller. I soon noticed myself gravitating towards him as I came towards the counter to order some food. I noticed then that all he was doing was drinking water and chatting with the waitress. As I took my seat he looked over at me and smiled probably noticing me be around the same age as him. He had beautiful light brown eyes and perfect facial features like full lips and full cheeks. I started to get a major crush on him as I heard his voice speaking. I didn't notice he was talking to me till he repeated a little louder what he had said. "Hey are you from around here? I want to make some friends because I just moved here for college and I need some help getting around a bit," he said. I was shocked that he wanted to be my friend because I knew I looked like a goth. I tried to speak but my infatuation with him got the better of me and I sounded like a stuttering fool as I muttered "I... u-uh...um....but... why me?"

*Grim's pov*

(An hour before). Hey, I know my hubby is making this story but im pretty sure he left me outta the char intro. He's cute like that. Anyways, My name is Grim and I'm the Guardian of Death. 'What the hell is the Guardian of Death?' you might be asking. Well, I am one of the 16 Guardians of Creation. We are the ones that created everything so we guard it hence the name. We came into existence by our father who died creating all 16 of us. He made us so our genders would be even; 8 males and 8 females. We are all what we allowed our creations, you, to call homosexual. We can also control a little bit of each other's powers even though a little bit to us means planetary destruction to you. Other than those little powers, we have complete control over our own. We got our powers when our father created us by the way. Haha I'm such a scatter brain. Anyways, whatever our father made us out of we controlled. He made me, therefore, out of death. 'How is death tangible?' you may ask, well its not unless i choose to be tangible like every other guardian. So that's the basic run down so I'll start the story back again.

"Hey Shadow are you sure he's my soulmate? I mean he's gorgeous and all but he seems outta my league." I said to my older brother, The Guardian of Darkness and the oldest of all of us. "Grim he is ok. Would I ever lie to you? You being the youngest male and my most favorite younger bro, I wouldn't lie to you about a secret (a power of darkness is the complete knowledge of each and every secret ever in any universe)." "Fine I believe you but if he doesn't love me back don't expect me to not try to rip your head off.". "Haha whatever lil bro I can take you on but trust me I'm not lying to you." "Fine I'm off peace." "Haha bye." After that 'cheerful' talk with Shadow I flew down to the diner where he told me that my soulmate Jacob would go to(we guardians have wings that look like they are a pulsating color that corresponds to the color of our true version which is the true color of our powers more than anything but they are the hardest material in any universe).

As I got to the diner, there was 30 minutes left till Jacob would show up. Instead of waiting outside for him I decided to go inside and start talking to the waitress about her likes and dislikes(a power of death is the ability to know everyone's past to judge whether they go to heaven or hell). After the 30 minutes were up and I heard Jacob as he entered the diner, I struggled not to turn and hug him for all he went through. When he sat next to me I shut off most of my powers so I wouldn't read his mind or invade in anything personal that I didn't already know. I then looked over at him and smiled the warmest smile I could and asked, "Hey are you from around here? I want to make some friends because I just moved here for college and I need some help getting around a bit." It was a lie but I needed to start on lies because most people don't want to be around death which was exactly who and what I am. He just kept staring at me though so I repeated what I asked him louder and he stuttered out, cutely I might add, "I... u-uh...um....but... why me?" At this I almost scoffed and gasped at the same time. If he was my soulmate then I'm going to have to show him nothing but love which was exactly what I planned to do. When he kept staring at me waiting for a reply I simply stated, "Why not?" He looked shocked so I took this time to admire his handsome features. When he recovered from his shock he replied weakly and softly, "B-because I-I'm...I'm gay and no one ever wanted to be my friend." I simply smiled trying to hide my anger at everyone that ever hurt him and said calmly, "Well then I guess I'm the first one to want to be your friend because to be honest I'm gay to and you look hot with a capital H-O-T." His face turned to shock again so I took this time to say, "My name's Jeffrey by the way. Would you like to go on a date with me sometime since we're both gay and you are gorgeous?" If his face got anymore shocked then I thought it might explode. When he calmed down a bit he tried to ask another why but I silenced him with a napkin with my number on it. He simply looked up at me and I smiled which made a shy but adorable smile creep on his face. As I got up to leave to rent a 2 bedroom apartment for him and me he stuttered out, "J-Jacob... my name is Jacob." I smiled at him being so cute and said, "Well Jacob, feel free to call me whenever you want and I'll set up the date." With that I left and rented a room from a close apartment complex so I can have a space on this planet that I can have him share as a guest so he doesn't need to be out in the cold or fear me for my true house which was a boney mansion.

After acquiring the room, I went to one of the already furnished bedroom and laid in the bed waiting for the morning since we Guardians don't need sleep or any other mortal necessity like breathing. I couldn't wait for this relationship to take off.
