How Captain Canary came to be

Chapter 10

The team were finally back to the year 2016. Rip returned them a couple months after when they first started the mission.
Sara and Len were sitting on a bench that was located in the park.
"This has been one heck of a mission huh", Len said
"Yea. I'm just glad it's over", Sara said
Sara took a quick glance at her watch.
"I should probably go now. I want to meet up with my family", Sara said.
"Ok. I'll see you soon", he said as he hugged Sara and kissed her on the lips.
"Bye, I'll see you here in the evening", and with that she walked away.
Len watched her walk away until he couldn't see her anymore. He smiled. He couldn't believe that Sara was his girlfriend. Finally.

It had been 6 hours since Sara had left. Len started to make his way to team. He saw them huddled around a table but Sara was missing.
"What happened, where's Sara", he asked.
"You didn't hear. Her sister died",Ray replied.
"Where is she", Len asked
"I don't know. Probably at the gravesite"
That being said, he ran towards where the graveyard was located.
There she was. Sitting down. Crying.
He slowly made his way towards her, careful not to make any noises.
She turned around and his heart broke. Her eyes were red as blotchy from the crying.
"She's gone Len, just like that", she whispered
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Sara", Len said as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer into his body.
Sara sobbed. She cried. Her tears were enough to make his shirt wet a little bit, but he didn't care. He just hoped that Sara would be fine. He hated it to see her like this.
After a couple minutes, she was feeling better.
"I'm sorry", she said
"It's ok", he whispered
"We should get going now"
"You ok"
"Yea"

"Let's go home", Len said
"Home?"

So this was the surprise. Both of them were moving into a new house. A home that they would live in. Together.
"Wow", Sara said.
"When I said I wanted a future with you, I wasn't lying", Len said.
Sara smiled and kissed him.
Both of them were ready. They were ready to begin a new chapter of their life...together.
