Everything was going great.

Until my friend kicked me with the butt of her lightsaber.

We were patrolling the edges of the base, Kaila complaining as always. I was tramping through the bushes when suddenly, a couple of native alien beasts jumped out. They had a cat-like body, lean and bulky. But instead of fur, scales occupied their bodies. Three in all, but one let loose a battle cry and jumped from down a tree. Reinforcements would be coming. The three of the circled while I raised my lightsaber. It was a green blade, fashioned by myself.

Whooping with delight, my counterpart raised her two purple lightsabers, fashioned to look like her master, Mace Windu.

"Don't attack," I spoke calmly, controlling my squeaks that tempted to interrupt me.

"Come on, Kai!" she cried. "This is the most fun since the beginning of the day!" I lowered my lightsaber and looked at her.

"You stuck a giant spider in my sleeping bag!" I protested. "What was I supposed to do? Calmly pick it off, while you cackled like a maniac?" But Kal wasn't listening. She jumped at one of the felines, slashing at it's muzzle. She had one purple lightsaber, behind her in the backwards stance she always took.

I sighed as another cat jumped at her and attempted to severe her face. She raised her lightsaber with her back hand, cutting of the cats tooth. She threw her knee up, the tooth balancing on her knee, before she swiftly kicked her leg up, and took her prize with a triumphant glance at the last cat.

It snarled, it's eyes turning deep red.

Kal backed up, unfortunately using the butt of her lightsaber to jab me in the gut.

"Oof!" I gurgled and fell to the ground.

"Oops! Kai! I'm so-" Kal started.

I blacked out.

"Kai...Kai... Kai!" I groaned and sat up, rubbing my head.

"It was an accident, I swear!" I heard Kal cry.

"Accidents are fatal in a real battle," a regal tone responded and when I sat up I saw Mace Windu, arms folded and staring her down. Kal lowered her head.

"Yes master," she said guiltily. I moaned again and rubbed my head. As my eyes got used to the lighting I found that I was in a dainty little room, blue and white. I was on a white map that was raised and some robots were shutting down next to me.

"Kai?" My master, Luthor was standing next to me. He was a Human that had some face paint on his head. My master told me that he had come from a human tribe that was on Kashyyk. It was an old tribe that had lived with the Wookies for a while, but then had thinned, resolving to Luthor being one of the last tribe member.

I sighed and shoved myself off the mat.

"I'm fine," I said and Kal sent a guilty glance my way. I smiled and gestured that I was ok, but I had the feeling that it wouldn't do any good, as Mace Windu had launched into one of his long lectures. I looked ruefully at Luthor and he shrugged. Mace and Luthor were competently different. While Luthor was laid back and easy-going, Mace Windu was strict and forceful.

Sometimes I really wondered why Yoda chose Kal to go with Mace and me to Luthor.

And that was the question that kept me up at night for ages.

Luthor beckoned me to the door, Mace and Kal following us. I surveyed the outside camp. The tents were pitched in a crecent circle around a stone fire. Men in clad white armor guarded the camp. I looked back. The tent we just came out of had the only high tech security in the entire camp.

When we walked by the men, they nodded their heads. One man, his armor streaked with orange ran up to Luthor and Mace. In the time that I had taken in everything, Mace had sided up to Luthor and I dropped back by Kal. She didn't speak to me and I knew she was upset.

"Sir," the orange streaked man said, raising his hand to salute. "The northwest perimeter is safe as is the west and south. We have no guaranteed reports on the eastern side. We believe though that it has been compromised," Mace and Luthor stiffened.

"I thought I sensed something when we landed here," Mace muttered.

"And the locals seemed scared even we assured them that no one had followed us," Luthor agreed. Mace turned to the man.

"Cody, send a squad down to the east, take   Us with it," the two Jedi masters turned to go, when Kal spoke up since she was first scolded.

"We want to come," she said softly. I gaped at her and the Jedi's turned around.

"Absolutely not," Mace said, before Luthor could say anything. Mace was turning to go, as if the discussion was over.

"But we're perfectly capable!" Argued Kal. I immediately sensed Mace's anger for Kal's disobeyence growing and I gestured wildly at her to stop.

"No," Mace's voice was a dangerous thin tone. "You're not. Cody after you call that ship, protect those two," Cody looked at Mace uncertainly, but nodded. I felt my blood run cold. I knew Kal like the back of my hand. She and I grew up together. I knew what could set her off. And when she was off, she was a ticking bomb.

Which exactly what happened.

Kal's face went pale and her blue eyes took and unnatural red hinge. She glowered and radiated with anger.

"You're leaving to go off on a mission," she said cooly. "and you're leaving us with a chaperone?" I winced remembering the last time her mother tried to leave her with a chaperone. Kal had pitched a fit and let's just say her mother went a little insane.

Mace stopped and I gestured wildely at Luthor to tell Mace to stop talking. Luthor looked over at Kal's bubbling expression and glanced at Mace, mouthing a silent plea. Mace glanced at Luthor and then at Kal. He stood there for a second.

"Yes," he said and turned walking towards the ship that had recently landed. Luthor shrugged at me helplessly and jogged slightly to catch up with Mace. Kal, still bubbling with anger, glared accusingly at Cody and stormed away. I smiled weakly at Cody.

"Sorry," I apologized for Kal. "She gets a little angry when people sometime treat her as a little kid," Cody chuckled.

"Well don't mind me sir," he said. "I'm just here to protect you two, not chaperone you," I smiled.

"You might want to tell her that," I joked and Cody laughed.

"You know, Kai sir, I think I'm going to like you," he noted and I smiled.

"Now you just need to get on Kal's good side," I said.

As it so happened, Cody would probably never get to see Kal.

Kal had disappeared.

Cody and I began to turn the place upside down as we looked for her. We asked to locals, we asked anyone that could have possibly seen her. Finally, we gave up and walked back to the tent that I had woken up in. Cody sat in a chair, cursing while I paced.

Suddenly, a thought struck me and I groaned with ignorance.

"Stupid!" I cursed, rubbing my head and Cody looked up, blankly. He was the first clone I had seen without a helmet and it still creeped me out that he was a clone and not really a human being.

"Who?" He asked and I pointed at myself.

"Why would Kal leave?" I asked Cody and he shrugged. I sighed and looked out the tent's window into the forest.

"She would head to the exact place she was told not to go," I said and Cody looked black for a second. Then his eyes went wide.

"You aren't saying that..." Cody gasped. I nodded.

"Kal has gone to the east," I replied.
