Chapter 1
"Finally, I'm here!" I said, looking relieved. All I need to do is find some place to sleep. But first, I needed to eat something. I still had the $100 dollars I stole from Jason's wallet before I left. As I strolled the town, I saw that each and every building was uniquely made and neat, like in those suburb communities. Everything was peaceful and quiet. I came across a small, low-key café. The girl behind the counter seemed busy, so I just sat down on the stool & waited for her to finish cleaning the glass cup. She sighed.
"Whadayya want, kid?" I looked up. She looked bored. Judging by the amount of customers in the place, I couldn't blame her.
"A cappuchino please, with the whip cream, drizzled in caramel. Please." After she handed me my coffee, she asked," Aren't you a little young to be drinkin this stuff?" I smiled.
"No. Does it look like it?"
"Yeah."
"It sucks when your mom's side of the family is short, you know?"
I walked off with my warm beverage and went to find some type of Everybody's lights were turning off & and the sky started to get darker. Hurry, I thought. The cold wind started to pick up. I noticed that there was a shelter not too far from here. As I approached the shelter, I noticed a line outside.
Great. That means it's crowded.... This line should be worth waiting for...
"Hello, may I help you?" A lady at the shelter asked.
"I need somewhere to sleep for the night," I explained. I could tell she didn't believe me, but she motioned me to a spot near the benches. I curled up cold and started to close my eyes when I felt hands pushing me off the bench. I looked up angrily and saw an old man. He quickly snatched the blanket from under me and I stumbled over.
"What the hell is your problem?" I growled. His face looked cold and sullen. "Go get your own, you dirty hobo!"
"When you've got nowhere to sleep, you need to find as much shelter as you can, especially this time of year-"
"What? No - that's mine! You can't just take what isn't yours and expect me to be fine with it!" Our argument caused a scene, so we were both separated and were sent to different rooms. People started giving me nasty looks and they were given right back.
Not only was I homeless, but in my only means of a home, the others disliked me already.
Not long after I had lied down, I heard noises in the darkness. Maybe a worker was cleaning up, I thought.
Until that person tried to rob me. Or at least it felt like it...
I fled the shelter as fast as I could out into the streets. It started snowing. I hope that there wasn't going to be a snow storm. I can't freeze to death now...
