Chapter 5

Last night, I couldn't sleep. I don't know why.... It as if something, somewhere was wrong. And it felt like I had a part of me. I don't know... I'm probably making things up. I heard a loud tap on my door. I shot up in my bed. Who would wake anybody up at this time of the night? Probably a doctor. I sat there and waited until I heard it again. This time, softer. I jumped out of my bed, causing it to creak, and walked to the door.

"I know you're awake, Ella, so let me in." I sighed. Wait, how did this kid know my name? I opened the door slightly, and a familiar face was standing there.

"It took you long enough," he mumbled, walking in and closing the door behind him, without making a sound.

"So, um, why are you here?" I asked, eyeing him suspiciously. He started pacing around the room.

"Well, I was wondering if you would like to take a walk around the hospital with me. There's some important things I want to tell you." Who takes a walk around the damn hospital at night?" He's probably one of the crazy ones. He'll probably stab me and stifle my screams when we are alone. I don't trust him at all. I crossed my arms.

"You've got to be kidding me. I don't even know you!" He rolled his eyes.

"My names Danny... I know you don't trust me yet, but I need to tell you some things before you kill me." He knew I was a murderer too? Either he's psychic or I'm really paranoid...

"Follow me." We walked through the long, dark hallways. They smelled like my plastic-scented room. I had a hard time keeping up with Danny's stride. He led me to an office, cluttered with papers that looked like it could topple over us any minute! Danny must of been think the same thing when he said," I expected a doctor's office to be clean, too." Danny grabbed a key from the plant and opened the drawers full of... Records? He started skimming through the folders. Tank, Terrence, Terry... Aha! Tessra. He handed me mine.

"Um, what am I supposed to do with this?..."

"Take it. Use it. It'll be helpful. If the doctors can't find it, they'll be too busy finding it and we can escape."

"What do you mean-" I heard footsteps headed towards the room we were in. My eyes got big.

"Where do we hide?" I hissed. We ducked under the desk. A man walked in, wearing a lab coat and a cynical frown on his face. He quickly scanned the room, then his eyes stopped at the open cabinet.

"This wasn't open before," he muttered. His head jerked up and glared at nothing in particular around him.

"Who's there?" He bellowed. We both jumped. Definitely not a guy I'd mess with. He threw his things on the floor and growled."Who was in here? Who went through my things!" I tried to breathe more softly, but then I inhaled a lot of dust....and held it in. When the doctor was still screaming out of his mind, we found it hilarious. Then I laughed to loud and he stopped. Unfortunately, the first place he looked was under his desk.

"There you brats are!" He grabbed us by the arm and threw us in a cell. I felt Danny's eyes on me.

"Thanks, Ella." Sorry...

The wind was blowing in my hair and the sun was setting. The world seemed to speed past us as Jason was peddling with the wind. Me, on the other hand, was starting to get bike sick (hey, I made up a new term!), if that's even possible anyway. He forced me to hold onto him so we could find Ella. No luck.

"Hey, Jason! Have you found her yet? I don't think this is the best way to find her."

"Shut up! You can't even ride a bike!" He was right. I could get on a bike... Standing up. After awhile, Jason started getting tired and he pulled over to some camp site.

"Uh, Jason? Where are we?" He didn't respond and instead he got off his bike and started setting up camp. I marched over towards him.

"So you're going to ignore me, huh?" He didn't bother to stop what he was doing. What an ass! I kicked his tent and it collapsed. I bust out laughing. That was pretty funny! He just glared at me.

"I swear, if you weren't so important and didn't know Ella, I would of killed you back in the cell when you were tied up!" He growled. I fell silent. That's nice.

"I'm tired, Jason! Can we sleep now?" He put his hand up to quiet me.

"Not yet. First you have to tell me more about Ella." I rolled my eyes.

"Why are you so obsessed with that girl? Do you like, love her or something?" I demanded. He shook his head.

"No, it's not that at all. I know she's alive and I need to kill her. It's a murderer thing. You wouldn't understand." I squinted my eyes at him as I drank from my water bottle.

"Whatever." When police come around-"

"They won't."

I put my hands up, starting towards the tent." Fine, fine. Whatever you say, man."

I got up to go pee. Crap, what time was it? I searched the camp site for Jason.

"Hey, Jason? What time is it?" Silence. I shrugged. Doesn't matter, anyhow. The sun just left the sky. I bent down in front of the tree and did my business. Afterwards, I pulled my pants up and turned towards the camp. Jason!

"Hey Jason? You alright?" His dark figure was leaning over mine.

"Yes, I'm okay."

"What time is it?"

"I don't have a watch, you idiot."

"How was I supposed to know that?" he pushed me against the tree . He was going to kill me or rape me. Instead, I felt something wet in my mouth. Why the hell was he kissing me? Then pushed me away and ran his fingers through my hair. He kissed my forehead. Then I slapped him.

"You jerk! Why did you do that? I'm only ten you know!" Jason rubbed his cheek as I stormed off. What a loser!

The morning I woke up, I felt pain. A lot of it. I instinctively reached for my abdomen. I was bleeding to death! Panicking, I frantically started looking for some bandages. My eyes spotted the first-aid kit. Yes! A pair of boots came into my view. I weakly looked up at Jason.

"Jason... Jason.." I groaned. He smirked.

"Sorry, Rachelle. But I have to go! We don't want Ella to get away, do we? Besides, you slow me down. You don't even know her that well so...Bye-bye, Rachelle." I watched as Jason pedaled down the road. That fucker, he left me to die here! I began to cry. I can't believe that my life is going so soon...

Then, my eyes closed and the darkness consumed me.
