Chapter 4
"Are you okay, honey?" A woman asked. I slowly opened my eyes. A woman was standing over me.
"Whe-where am I? I thought I was dead!" She just shook her head.
"No, honey. You're in the hospital. I found you down the road from the hospital, so I brought you back here." Wow. Passed out down the street from the hospital? How ironic. I rubbed my head and looked around. An IV was attached to my arm. The walls were painted a light blue and the room smelled like new plastic. I winced at the smell. She picked up her clipboard and pen.
"Do you remember your name?" She asked. Do I remember my name? Of course I remember my name! I wasn't unconscious for that long!
"Ella Tessra." The woman nodded and wrote something down.
"Can I get a glass of water? I asked. She glanced at the clock, then at me.
"Fine. But be back in five minutes." What? I thought the nurse was supposed to bring you water, no? I rolled my eyes and walked to the door.
"Hey, nurse? Can I get a cup of water?" I asked.
"Down the hall on your left, Ella." Yeah, yeah. I'll find it myself, lady. As I walked pass some of the rooms, most of the patients looked like they were dying or really sick. I felt kinda bad for them, they've probably been here longer than they should have. I tasted the water in my cup and spit it out. What the hell? What is this? I glared at no one in particular, then turned back to the water to find an Asian boy staring back at me.
"Um, are you drinking IV fluid or is it just me?" He asked. I dropped the cup and started coughing.
"That was what it was? What kind of person puts IV fluid next to water???" He smirked and pushed up his glasses up with his finger.
"What kind of person can't tell between IV fluid and water? I mean, the sign's right there!" I stared at him, annoyed.
"Who are you? And why do you care what I drink?" He frowned.
"I don't ... anyway, why are you here? You don't look hurt at all. Are you mentally ill...??"
"No, I was unconscious out in the cold."
"You're lucky someone found you and brought you here. But I sure don't trust these people. Seems like they're up to something." I shrugged.
"I don't know, I haven't been here long. I hope the food's good."
"There you are!" The nurse snapped. I spun around. She looks mad. "I told you five minutes! I was worried I lost another..." she paused for a second."...patient." Hmmm.... fishy much? She grabbed my arm and pulled me back to my room. I waved awkwardly to the kid who I was just talking to. He smiled at me, almost laughing. Darn, I didn't get his room number or his name. Oh, well. I'm pretty sure I'll see him later....

I headed to the police station to ask if they have seen Ella. No luck. Maybe she is dead, I'm just going to assume that for now so that I wouldn't worry myself death. Walking down the dark streets of the town, I felt that someone was behind me. I turned around. Nothing. A minute later, the footsteps got louder and I felt hands grab me and pull me into the darkness.
When I awoke, I felt a blindfold on my eyes and my arms were tied behind my back. Where am I?.... The room smelled of urine and wet dirt. I scrunched my nose up. There were footsteps again. I heard a voice ask:
"Where's Ella?" I froze. How did this person know Ella?...
"I said, 'Where's Ella?'" I gulped and squeaked," I have no idea what you're talking about!" A pause. I waited and the person took the blindfold off of me.
"J-Jason?" I gasped. He smiled, but it wasn't a friendly one.
"Yeah, I'm alive. You thought Ella killed me? Of course not!" He laughed as if to himself, then continued. "Now tell me... where's Ella?" I shrugged. He glared at me.
"Liar."
"How do you know I'm not lying?" I questioned. He stopped.
"If you don't know where she is, then I'll find her myself." He started to leave, then I asked, "What about your parents? Won't they know?" His face turned dark and cold.
"No, they won't know, because I already took care of them." As he left, I shuddered and thought," Did he kill his own parents?" Oh well. That didn't matter right now. I needed to find Ella before Jason does, even if it means risking my own life......
