  Chapter 6

"Ella? Ella?" My eyes shot opened. Oh, just a nurse. She looked worried.

"Are you okay, sweetie?" I nodded, still stirring. I slowly sat up, the cracks from my bones being audible. I yawned.

"Come on. Let's get you in your clothes." I nodded. I grabbed the clothes, which were neatly folded up, on a rack and slammed the bathroom door. Man, I'm so tired! I don't know why, can't remember what happened... My body hurt, so it must not be a good thing.  I guessed it was the medicine. I entered the cafeteria. Danny was waving at me, I just smiled. Sitting next to him, I noticed he was with a few other kids. They looked... Dangerous, even for me.

"Ella! It's about time you got here!" Danny fixed his clothes, then introduced his friends to me. Afterwards, I got my food and sat down.

"So, we need a plan." Danny glanced over the rest of his crew, lowering his voice. "We have ... one week until room check, which is when the staff checks all of our rooms. We need a plan right now. Anyone?" Mike, one of the gang members raised his hand.

"Well, we have everything we need to escape, right? We can leave tonight!" Danny rubbed his head.

"No.. no. There's guards out there at night; we need some kind of distraction. But we don't have one. Our last volunteer had to suffer the consequences, which we vowed never to speak about again. So, then... who's gonna do it?" Silence, then I raised my hand.

"I'll do it. I'll risk my life." Danny nodded.

"Hey, I never said that you had to risk your life. I just said the consequences were... gruesome. Anyway... here's the guards A, and B. Then C is...."

Jason sighed. He was tired. His body ached. Did he really need Rachelle? I mean, it would be nice to have a companion to do all of the dirty work... he shook his head and pedaled faster. No.. he didn't need her. The sky started to get dark and the winds were picking up, forcing him to stop. He dropped his bicycle off in front of a homeless shelter, embarrassing as it is. Where am I?... He looked up at the sign, that read:

Welcome to Cadaverville- Population 200. He had a feeling Ella had passed by here, at least. Where would she be now....? A homeless man came out the shelter, looking sullen.

"Um, excuse me sir. Have you seen a little girl, long black hair, dark eyes, somewhat short, evil glare?"

"Actually , I have seen a little girl come past here. Then she fled."

"Good! I mean- where did she flee to?" He scratched his head.

" Down there, into the east. Why? You know this little girl?" But Jason had already left. He shrugged.

What strange children these days...
