Ponyboy-(canon)-"It was all just a dream"

Our boy Ponyboy dreams. He dreams so that he thinks his reality isn't real. I'm sure he's done it many times in the book, like when he imagined being out in the country, or Darry cooking the usual breakfast eggs.

Johnny-(headcanon)-Distance

He distances himself from other people. Like how he hangs out alone in the lot when his ma and pa fight. He needs time to think, because he's very sensitive.

Sodapop-(canon)-Fake Smile& Optimism

Sodapop remains optimistic about things even though it ends up with him having to put up a fake smile.
Bless our baby Sodapop. I think putting up a fake smile to avoid problems is a pretty selfless thing to do, but also very painful.

Steve-(headcanon)-Shouting

Steve can't keep all his emotions in so he's gotta let it all out. That boy be screaming into a pillow to avoid going crazy.

Dally-(headcanon)-Hitting

Dally be hitting at punching bags all day just to deal with a crazy situation. Unfortunately, there's not exactly a whole lot of punching bags sitting around at his grasp, so the world becomes his punching bag.

Two-Bit (canon)-Avoidance

Ponyboy pointed out in the book that Two-Bit tried to avoid conflict. When he sensed something bad for th rumble, Two-Bit refused to agree. When Dally died (Oh Gawd 😭) Two-Bit wished for his blade back, but he really wanted his buddy Dal back. And Johnny.(Oh Gawd feels).

Darry(headcanon)-Working Out

(Daddy) Darry (Jk don't kink shame me lol) would do pushups and lift weights to get his mind off things. Probably why he's so hot--I mean muscely. Hehehe muscely's not a word.
