There are a certain number of tropes or clichés the Iron Man armors have obtained over the years. Later these are seen as the staple features that define what IronMan is and what he can do. Some of the most common of these features are compiled in a list below.
#1-
Repulsor Rays- function as the main weapons of most armors, typically located in the palms of the Marks. These Repulsors emit a magnetic blast of charged particles that are concentrated into a beam. This started as a side feature of the suits but has since grown into one of IronMan's main offensive features. The Repulsors made their debut in 1965 in Tales of Suspense #66.
#2-
(IronMan Mark 2 in the MCU, the first suit built to improve on flight, appearing in Iron Man 2008)
Thrusters- normally located in the boots (and often on the back) thrusters allow Iron man to fly by creating downward force to push himself upwards. In many instances the thrusters are are just modified Repulsors with different placement.
#3-
The Unibeam- Often serving as the most powerful Repulsor blast integrated into Tony's armors, it's always produced from center of the chest and it draws power from the whole suit. It should also be noted that it drains a large amount of power from the respective suit that it's used by. If overused or used at the wrong time it can leave the suit powerless.
