Backstory- The Mark 5 made it's first appearancein Invincible Iron Man issue 142. The first of the Iron Man specialty suits, the Mark 5 was the first armor built to specifically deal with space travel. This armor is still often displayed in Tony's collection but it isn't all that needed anymore as most of Tony's newer armors can travel through space much quicker and are much lighter

General Overview- The Mark 5 as a whole is a bulky suit with large thrusters, and a jetpack of sorts equipped with extra thrusters. The design is similar to the Mark 2 with the spikes designs at the top of the faceplate and it's Golden-red color scheme. It also lacks a mouth slit or opening like it's predecessors as it is meant to keep in Tony's air while he's in space. It's evident that the Mark 5 lacks pure-power and flexibility, especially compared to it's proceeding armors but what It lacks in those categories it makes up for in durability. Able to take more punishment than the Mark 3 and able to withstand the pressure of entering the atmosphere the Mark 5's size does give it better defense while subtracting from it's overall speed. It possesses life support and other systems that are designed primarily for space. Its control system is highly sensitive. An auto-camera and extendable exo-units are used for exploration. A Sonar detects vibrations in space despite a lack of atmosphere, and thermographs provide detailed information of what's around the suit.
