Sean's POV
"We can get you out of this house, we can give you a place to stay, people to talk to," I tell her.
Her eyes glaze over for a second and she mumble something I barely catch, "I don't need help, I am fine."
I scoff, "Of course you are fine. You are so fine that you just collapsed in pain," she goes to interrupt, "Don't lie to the doctor about pain, Pookie."
She blinks, "Pookie?"
"It's a cute name for a cute girl."
Her eyes glaze again, "I'm not cute and I do not need help. Go help someone else," she tries getting up but can't. I look at her sadly, "What?"
"One, you are beautiful, don't try telling me other wise, I have eyes. Two, you are in so much pain you can't get up. Three, you have bags under your eyes that you only get from getting a few hours of sleep a night. Four, I am not leaving unless you come with me."
She glares at me, "I don't even know your name."
My eyes widen in surprise and I smack my head, "I am Dr. Sean Green."
"Sang Sorenson."
"Now that we know each other's names will you come with me?" I ask her hopefully.
Her eyes glazes over again and for the first time I can see some emotion in them, sadness. She is about to say something when the mother walks in. The sick bitch spots us and I barely hold in my rage that she would hurt someone so small and fragile like Sang.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE?!" she yells. She turns her eyes on Sang, "YOU BROUGHT ONE OF THEM IN MY HOUSE?! YOU ARE LUCKY I DON'T THROW YOUR WHORE ASS ON THE STREETS!"
If I hadn't taken a vow to heal...
Sang just stares at her calmly, "Well I am leaving so you want have to worry about this again."
"WHAT?! YOU ARE NOT LEAVING THIS HOUSE!"
"Yes. I am." She turned to me, "I am gonna need a few things."
She is really agreeing? Yes! "Let's go."
When we try to leave the mom smacks her again and I am on the verge of punching her, "GET THIS MAN OUT OF MY HOUSE AND GO TO YOUR ROOM WHILE I GET YOUR PUNISHMENT READY!"
Sang looks at her, "No," and punches her.
...Looks like I didn't need to.
I am shocked when I hear a crack but Sang just walks away. I follow her up some stairs and through a door. I look around, this must be her room.
The walls have an old flower wall paper that is peeling, nothing covering the walls outside that, there is a twin bed with a thin green blanket covering it in the corner and I can see lumps where the springs have likely broken through the fabric. How can she sleep in that? Sat by the window is a small bookshelf with a few worn books that looks as if it will collapse any minute.
While I was looking over the room Sang went to a small dresser by the door holding a backpack. I walk over to her and see she is putting the tiny amount of clothes she has in it. Is that all she has? Gabriel is going to have a fit. My poor Pookie.
She zips it shut and turns to me, "I need something from the bathroom, I will be it in a second."
Her blades. "You won't be needing your blades, Sang."
She looks startled for a moment, "How-"
"Owen saw your wrists."
She looks confused, "The guy that was with you?"
I nod, "He is observant." Thank god.
She starts to protest again, "I ne-"
"No," I say firmly.
She sighs, "Fine."
I smile, "Lets go."
I turn to go through the door but she stops me, "Mother will try to stop us again so lets go through the window, I'm tired of dealing with her."
"I look back at her with a raised eyebrow. I know she isn't worrying about the bruises likely forming or the stitches in her back and I want to say something but I know she'll dismiss it a second later. "Are you sure?"
She nods, "You go first."
I narrow my eyes catching onto her plan, "I am not dumb. I know you are going to grab them."
She just rolls her eyes and walks to the window opening it. She tosses her bag out the window and suddenly the door opens. I look at it expecting the mom again but instead see a teenage girl.
Sang looks at her, "What do you want Marie," she says exasperated.
She glares and sneers at Sang, "What are you doing and why is mom's nose broken?"
"I'm leaving and her nose is broken because she is a bitch." I must say that I love her responses. She'll put the boys back into their places easily.
"Don't talk about her like that you whore!"
"I will talk about her however I damn well please."
"You are not leaving!" jeez, screech much?
"Really? Then what am I doing right now?" she asks while climbing out the window.
I laugh and follow her out leaving the sister in the room. I jump off the roof and see her a few feet next to me holding her bag waiting, "This way, Pookie." I look over my shoulder and see she is following me to Owen's car.
When we get to the car I open the front door for her but she shakes her head and gets in the back. I get in and look to Owen who looks slightly surprised, "Introduce yourself Owen, it is rude not to."
I hear a snort come from Sang, probably remembering how long it took me to do just that.
Owen turns to her, "I am Mr. Owen Blackbourne, Mr. Lee has told me quite a few things about you."
"Sang Sorenson," she says shortly.
I look at her and see her walls are up and stronger than ever. I sigh, "You're like a female version of Owen."
Owen give me a look and Sang raises an eyebrow, "How so?"
Oh lets see, the voices, selfharm, walls, EYEBROW RAISE! "You will see."
She just rolls her eyes, "Where are we going?"
Owen looks at her with a disappointed expression, "You agreed to come with him without knowing where you are going?"
"Mother saw him and I wasn't in the mood for a punishment."
Owen glares at me, "I told you to make sure she didn't see you."
I put my hands up, "Her mom had just kicked the shit out of her and beat her hands with a spoon. She collapsed in pain so as soon as the mother left I went to her and while we were arguing she came back in." I turn to Sang, "Nice punch by the way, you broke her nose."
"I know I did."
"Ms. Sorenson, are you hungry?" Owen asks her.
"A little."
I turn to her, "You're too skinny and one of your mother's punishments was no food. What do you usually eat?"
"Banana for breakfast, crackers and water for lunch, and an apple and carrots for dinner."
How can she say that like it is okay? It is not okay! "Pookie that is so little, how often are you not able to eat at a time?"
She shrugs, "Depends on the punishment and if she took her meds, the longest was a week."
"You went a week without food?!" Owen exclaims.
I raise my eyebrows at him, is he really showing how worried he is? He never does that, he usually shows a mask of calmness.
Wow, this girl has gotten to all of us.
