Niko knew what Memorial Day is celebrated for, he just didn't celebrate it. He didn't not support the remembrance of who died in the service, just he didn't see what was so special that one day had to be more important. Shouldn't everyone remember who died everyday? After all, they are the ones who gave us the freedom from Britain.
Niko was chilling on the couch eating a rocket pop when his dad walked in the room.
"Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in school?"
Niko shook his head and sat up. He turned the TV off and got up picking his phone up. "Today is Memorial Day remember?"
His mom would have them at some parade going on, but when she died, all that she has done stopped still.
"Right," Niko's dad nodded and walked to the kitchen.
Niko walked to his room and laid on his bed still eating the rocket pop.
Niko, get over to my house.
Why?
Because I would love to hang out with my bestest friend in the whole wide world.
What about Hannah?
Niko got up anyways and grabbed a pair of Nike Elite socks and sneakers, and headed over to Jade's house. But he grabbed another two rocket pops before going out.
When he got there. He finished the one rocket pop he was eating at his house, and started another one.
"So I'm here, what do you want?"
Niko didn't know there would be anyone else in Jade's room.
"Hi Niko." Kayson smiled and got up from Jade's bed.
Kayson walked out, but he stopped short at the door frame. "Did you get the egg prizes from Jade?"
Niko shook his head and looked at Jade. Jade smiled sheepishly and threw a gift card at Niko. "This is yours."
"The money too Jade. Aunt Tara can give you fifty dollars anytime. Cough it up Mr Krabs." Kayson said leaning against the door frame watching as Niko smiled at the gift card and looked at Jade for the money.
She got the money out and handed it to him. Niko shoved it in his pocket and opened the third rocket pop.
"Didn't you just have one?" Jade asked laughing and Niko just nodded and sat on the chair she has in her room at a vanity.
Kayson was walking out when Tara came up the steps. "Hey, can you get Jade, we are going to the parade soon. Get ready. Thanks Kay."
Kayson turned back around and popped his head in her room. "Aunt Tara wants you to get ready. She said we are heading to the parade soon."
Kayson took notice of Niko's facial expressions changing from a smile to a sad look.
"Cool, Niko want to come?" Niko shook his head and threw the rocket pop in Jade's trash can "I gotta go."
Jade nodded and felt bad for making Niko become sad. "I'm sorry Niko."
"I'm ok Jade. I'll talk to you in school. Bye Kayson." Niko said goodbye and walked out of the house.
