I woke up. It was actually sunny. I took it is a good sign.

I take a lot of things from nature. Good signs, bad signs, anything.

I put on my usual outfit. Mint shirt with headphones, but today, I wore grey skinny jeans instead of black. I am so unpredictable. I French braided my hair and grabbed my phone. My sunglasses were already on my face.

Andrew was gone already. Probably on a laptop. Adoption was at noon. It was already 11:30. If you can't tell, I like sleep.

I figured to look nice, I would put on a bit of makeup. Just a bit. I decided not to dress up so they would know the real me.

I ate a quick breakfast and gulped down my grape juice. I brushed my teeth and pulled on my dress shoes. Mint converse. I don't really do "fancy". I plugged in my headphones and shoved my phone in my pocket. I decided to sit in the front room until noon. I sat down on the small, cushioned chair, and twisted myself to be sideways, legs hanging over the arm.

I was quite tall for 12. I was 5'5" last just checked.

I glanced at the clock. 5 minutes.

Just as I looked away, to boys walked in. They were both blonde, and wore shades to cover their eyes. One looked about 14, the other about 19. No adults. It must be the two brothers. They scanned the room. The tall one, who wore pointy anime shades, looked at me. He tapped the other on the shoulder. He looked over to. They stared for a moment, before I waved. The short one waved back and pulled the other into the office.

There was an announcement for everyone to come to the front room to be interviewed. I sat on my chair properly, slouching.

One by one we were called in, by age. Youngest first. Some were almost immediately sent back out. Some stayed longer. They were usually blonde, like them.

"Dena, you turn." I was told. I walked in a sat down. They stared for a moment.

"So. What's your story?" The short one asked.

"Well, I was apparently left here when I was 2, with my birth certificate, but it was wet and smeared, and some was scribbled over to make it impossible to make out."

"Oh. Well, I'm Dave, and this is Dirk." The short one said.

"Dee." I said. Dirk stuck out his hand. I shook it awkwardly.

"So, why are you wearing those shades?" Dirk asked.

"I should ask you the same." I retorted.

They looked at each other and nodded. They took off their shades. I blinked. No way.

Dave's eyes were a bright, stunning red. Dirk's were a glowing Amber.

I slowly took off mine, eyes closed. I opened them to reveal my Mint Green eyes. They smiled.

"You can go." They said. I left and they stopped calling people in. A few minutes later, Mrs. Marlowe came to bring me back in. They were holding two pieces of paper. One was my birth certificate. The one they found with me. The other was also a birth certificate. It looked they same, but no smears, no scribbles. It had a name on it.

"Dena Elliott Strider".

God. I hate my middle name. It was a boys name. Wait.... that was my name.... but... with a LAST name...

HOLY SHITE.

Could it be? That's impossible. I backed up into a wall. I blacked out.

--------

This... It has happened before. Was this a memory?

I was laying on a blanket. Two boys came up. One looked 4, the other looked 9. They had the eyes. The bright, sunset colored eyes.

"Hey, Dena." The older one said. He picked me up. I was handed to a woman. She had bright eyes too. They were emerald green. The man next to her had orange ones. Suddenly, a gunshot ran out. I was almost dropped. The Amber eyed one caught me.

"MOMMY!" The red eyed one said.

We ran. Another shot. The man fell, dead.

The boys ran with me. We were stopped by the cops. The shooter was stopped, and me and the boys were separated. The red eyed one cried, and the older one held him back. I heard him say, "It's for the best, Dave."

The young one sniffled."

"Bye, Dee Dee." He said.

--------

I sat up quickly.

"Are you ok? Dee?" A boys voice said. It was Dave.

I nodded. I felt fine. Physically.

"I.. I remember." I said.

"What? What do you remember?" Dirk said. He was standing behind Dave.

"You."
