We drove to San Fransisco, talking the whole ride. The sun was beginning to set and the city began to beam. The night life atmosphere felt good.
The car pulls up in front of a tall shiny silver building.
"This is it?" I ask when Scott opens my door for me.
"Yes. And you see that light," he points to a yellow light at the very top of the building, "that's where we are going."
Everything felt so surreal right now. It was hard to process what was actually happening.
The lobby was filled with rich couples trying to find their party in this building.
We walk into an all glass elevator, the operator asking us what floor.
"Penthouse please." Scott says in his sophisticated voice, his hand on my lower back.
The doors open after what seems like a lifetime. Classical music already begins to fill the hallways.
"Are you ready?" Scott asks.
"More than ever." I say, my stomach in knots.
He opens the large double door and leads us into the breathtaking venue.
People are everywhere. Everyone holding a glass of champagne, mingling with one another.
Scott holds on to me tightly, guiding us throw the crowd.
A lot of "Hey Scott!" and "look there's Scott!" surround us. He waves to some people before whispering into my ear, "there's my family." His hand points to long white couches with gorgeous couples. I can't even make out who's his parents are since all the people look fairly young.
We approach the lounge area. "Hi guys." Scott says getting there attention.
Everyone sitting snaps there head towards us. I awkwardly hold onto Scott's arm and smile.
"My baby Scott! Oh how are you!" a woman who I assume is his mom stands up and rushes to Scott. She cups his face and plans a kiss on his forehead.
"Hi mom," he gives her a hug. A man, who I'm pretty sure is his father stands behind his mom. All he says is "Scott," and pats his shoulder.
Soon after his sister greets him also. She seems to be the only one to notice me. "Who is this?"
"This is Eva. My girlfriend." Scott answers.
"Wow, you did good bro." a guy says approaching us.
"Adam.." Scott says nodding at him. Adam looked just like Scott, just a little shorter with a more pointy nose and just as handsome.
"Let me introduce you to MY, new girl, Mary." The girl hooked onto his shoulder waves and smiles a familiar smile.
I know that face..
Suddenly it hit me. That is the girl that I met in the coffee shop.
She made eye contact with me, her eyes widening as she recognized who I was. My heart seemed to stop beating when she noticed me.
Mary knows that I'm in highschool. She knows that I'm 17. And she knows that I'm dating her boyfriend's older brother.
We sit down and Scott catches up with his family. I stay quiet and watch the atmosphere.
"I'll be back. I'm going to the bathroom." I tell Scott.
I go to the bathroom which is probably more expensive than my whole house. Standing in front of the mirror, I re-apply my lipstick and powder.
