I sat in silence, thinking. Who had the other cupid? Who was my match? Maybe it was Daymon. He was another angel great at his work. He was only second to me, and we'd been friends for a long time. Even though angels were immortal we could still be in love. We were like humans after all, but just the looks and the way we think. Only demons are wounded like humans.
Daymon. Could Daymon really be my match? I'd have to contact him. Then I realized that this was my ticket out. If I could prove Daymon was my match, then I could get out of here to celebrate. They have to let me out for sure!
I got up and danced for joy, sprinting down the hallway. I yanked open Toby's door, remembering to duck in time. I smiled broadly, rushing over to him. I was so happy I flung my arms around him, quickly pulling back and sticking my tongue out.
"What're you doing in my room?" he asked suspiciously.
"I'm getting outta here," I said triumphantly.
"Oh really? And how do you plan on doing that?" he mused.
"I got my cupid!" I stated proudly.
His smirk vanished, but only to appear again.
"Sure, and when was that?" he said sarcastically.
"Just a couple of minutes ago, on my desk. It was in an envelope, with a cupid's note in it. It turned to ash, like the real thing. I know it has to be Daymon," I insisted.
"We'll I'm sure you two will be very happy together. Now when are they going to pick you up?" he asked.
He still thought it was a joke. I huffed and activated my amulet, contacting Cupid. The Cupid. Cupid can sort it out. He/she appeared as whatever your opposite gender was, but Cupid was always blonde. No matter how your preference of him/her was, the hair was always blonde. To me, it was a guy, so it was a him. His face appeared, tan with dimples, blonde hair, and bright blue eyes. When he smiled his teeth were dazzling white. He should have his own line of sunglasses, they were so bright.
"Yes hon?" he asked in a soothing voice.
"I've received a cupid, and I was wanting you to tell this idiot here it's real and that it's Daymon," I explained.
Toby elbowed me, but I just focused on Cupid. He gave me a devilish grin and shook his head.
"Sorry sweetie, it isn't Daymon. Klaus says you can't leave until you figure it out, and only I know. Good luck guessing," he said with a wink.
He disconnected, leaving me confused. If it wasn't Daymon, who was it? Toby chuckled.
"Oh well, looks like you're staying here for a while longer, until you figure out your true love," he taunted.
I pushed my way past him and slammed the door to my room. I sighed and fell onto my bed, my head reeling. It wasn't Daymon? Okay, calm down, it has to be someone else. Or maybe my match is one of my past assignments. That had to be it! I sat up and looked through my files. I stopped on one of my favorites, it happened this past year.
His name was Troy. He was pretty easy to turn, he was just dealt a bad hand. He was actually really fun to be with, and I if had to choose a match from one of my clients it would be him. I got up and snapped my fingers, changing into a black tank top with dark, ripped jeans and a black beanie. I had on gray sneakers and my ears were pierced with spikes. He was into rock, and I actually got a little hooked on it.
I walked back out of my room and onto the lawn. The maid hissed and tried to stop me, but I held up a hand.
"Don't worry, I'm gonna be back. I promise on my honor. I just wanna visit a friend," I explained.
