I just stared at his horns. There was no way he was a demon. The Great Council wouldn't have sent me he if he was a demon. Yet his horns and eyes were telling me otherwise. I watched as a pointed tail slid out from behind him, sharp and deadly. He took a step closer, but I changed into my gear. Cargo pants to hold ammo, a knife strapped to my leg, a sword at my side, a plain gray tank top with a protective vest, and a belt of ammo around me. I whipped out my sword and held it up threateningly. He just laughed and kept getting closer. I slashed at him with my sword, but he deflected with his trident.
"Come now, I'm your assignment. And if I remember correctly, you're not supposed to attack him/her. Face it, you're stuck with me until you cure me. Now put down the weapon," he teased.
I grudgingly put it back in its sheath. He was right. I can't attack my assignment. I snapped my fingers and changed back into my hoodie and jeans. I crossed my arms and glared at his grinning face. He knew he'd won. For now.
I would find a loophole to beat the living shit out of him. He grinned and tried to grab my hand, it I slapped it away. I stormed upstairs, looking for a room. I ran into another maid with red hair. She quietly showed me into a room. I stepped in and looked around. The walls were red, with a king sized bed and toys. Not the kid kind either. I turned towards her and shook my head.
"No, I just want a room of my own, to sleep by myself, that kind of room. Normal," I explained.
She nodded and silently shut the door, leading me down the long hall to another door. I opened it and walked in, expecting another playroom. It had wooden floors, a queen bed, a balcony, and the colors were blue, sliver, and black. I nodded in approval and she smiled. I gave her a twenty, but she looked horrified. She shook her head, but I stuffed it into her hands.
"You deserve it. Split it with the rest of you. Tell them more to come," I said quietly.
She gave a slight nod and gave me a hug. She ran out in her heels, clip-clopping down the hall. I shut the door and walked towards the navy and silver curtains covering the balcony. I stepped out and my wings appeared. I stepped up onto the rail and looked below me. I was about to jump and fly away. The Great Council could kiss my ass.
"Your wings do match. Most just have the silver or white wings," a cold voice said.
I stopped and turned. Toby was standing in my room, looking at me with a smirk. I stepped down and walked up to him. I glared into his eyes, trying to display my hate. I raised my hand and forced him back, thinking he was going to pull a trick. His eyes glowed red, and he hissed. He picked himself up and started towards me, but I forced him out of my room and slammed the door. I sprinted to the balcony, spreading my wings. I flew off of the railing, hearing the door crash open.
I went full speed, but a hand grasped my ankle. I tried to kick, but it wouldn't let go. I looked back and saw Toby holding my ankle. His eyes were still red, his tail poised to stab me. I twisted in the air, trying to shake him loose. He grabbed higher up on my leg, starting to climb. I was struggling to keep us in the air. My wings flapped as hard as they could, straining to keep me up. We slowly began to lower to the ground as I grew tired. I tried as hard as I could, but it was no use.
"Get off!" I shouted.
He just snarled, and I had an idea. I flew towards a tree and smashed him into it. He lost his grip, setting me free. I began to ascend, only to be grabbed again by his tail. He was holding the tree in his hands, his tail wrapped around my foot. I took out my sword to hack at it, but I remembered I couldn't attack him. I growled in frustration and flew towards him. I flew in circles around the tree, wrapping his tail around it. It was extended as far as it could go, and I ended up next to him. He slashed out at me but I dodged. He pulled me closer with his tail, grabbing my shirt. He yanked me close until our noses we brushing.
