~3rd Person POV~

A magic that haunts the wielder, breaks the innocent, ruins the brave. This magic was wanted. This magic was gained. This magic was regretted.

The girl stood on the bank of the quickly flowing river. It's name unknown to her who came upon it, the fish beneath the surface unknowing to the anguish harbored by those above the crystalline liquid. The late July breeze blew north, ushering the leaves past her, blowing her hair out of her face, sending the sent of burning flesh into the air.

The magic she had so craved as a child, which she had worked so hard to obtain, now took its toll on her and the people around her. It was the reason she was depressed. It was the reason the smoldering corpse lay before her, the corpse of a man who had burned himself alive infront of her not more then an hour before.

Her magic controlled emotions.

It brought happiness, pride, sorrow, pain, any emotion she desired to whom ever she desired. But what she didn't know, what was written in the fine print, the details left out of the fantastic tales, was that she would suffer the opposite of the emotion she bestowed upon someone. Leaving her, after giving her loved ones the happiest lives they could imagine, with nothing less then severe depression.

Over the years, her sorrow grew too much to cope with. The only sorce of happiness left for her was when she made others share her burden by using her magic, by feeding them pain and depression. In most cases, the only way to take away her pain, if only for a little while, was to send the person into such a painful sadness that they killed themselves in a matter of minutes, or were sometimes forced into insanity.

The man who's sent of burning flesh wafted into the noses of all whom were near had become the victim of this girl in search of healing. Burning himself alive to escape the torturous sorrow that seeped through his soul, leaving behind his family and friends, all of whom were unknown to the girl quietly standing across the river from the body.

Her eyes dull with guilt, and sorrow, she turned away from the bank, slowly walking to the only thing that she loved.

"Picasso..." She gently whispered as she approached the black coated horse.

She stroked his soft white nose, and he snorted lovingly. Smiling sadly, she moved to his left, her hand trailing his shoulder until it reached his saddle. She got on, taking his rains and gently guiding him away from the river.

She smiled to herself, relishing the happy moment she gained from the man who committed suicide behind her. Kicking his sides, clicking her tongue a few times, he took off, heading in the direction of her guild.

She had never told anyone about her magic, but they didn't need to know it to realize she was depressed. They mostly left her alone, trying to respect her personal space, but this didn't help. If anything it made it worse. She had always loved the noise of the place, only because it kept her from being alone with her thoughts.

The trees rushing past them, the grass beneath the thundering hooves, it wasn't long before they made it to Magnolia. She pulled back on the rains, slowing to a trot, making they're way at this pace to the guild.

Fairy Tail. She had been in this guild for a few years, ever since she was brought in after attempting to end her life. It was there that she met someone to live for. Laxus had been her crush since she joined. She had always admired his strength, and the compassion he kept deep inside him. She loved him. But depression often kept her away. Plus, who in there right mind would want to date a depressed murderer who can't feel happiness without others feeling pain. Her dreams were nothing more then fantasies, and she knew they would never come true.

She reached the guild, and after tying Picasso to a fence and tossing hay at the ground beside him, made her way through the doors. The guild was engulfed in a brawl, but she ignored it, walking over the the table in the corner on the room. She glanced up at Laxus, and caught his eye for a mere second, then looked down and her hands in her lap, blushing slightly.

Her (h/c) hair fell over her face, covering the necklace she kept with her at all times. It's crescent moon dangling near her chest. She wore a cloak over her V neck shirt, and baggy capris, closed off by a tie a few inches below her knees. She usually wore sandals, the black bands wrapping around her foot and keeping the shoes in place. Behind her hair were her big (e/c) eyes, usually dull and lifeless, but still gorgeous. Her full lips and rounded nose fit her face well, leaving most to say it was an understatement if you said she was beautiful. Five foot five with a slight heal on her shoes lead her parents to believe that she somehow didn't inherit her families tall genes, not that she cared though.

Up on the second floor, Laxus looked down at her. She too was an S-Class wizard, but most still didn't understand how. He knew of course, what her magic did. He also knew, though she kept it secret, what she did when she left the guild on occasion, generally when she looked particularly broken.

He knew about her Depression. He also knew how she coped with it. Even so he didn't stop loving her. He wanted to help her out of her sorrow, to let her be happy again. He finally found out how he could.

~(Y/n) POV~

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Laxus stand up, then make his way down the stairs. I sighed, once again feeling myself slip into the depression I wanted to rid myself of so badly. I placed my head in my hands, wishing I could end it all, then coming back to reality when someone sat beside me. Looking to me left I saw Laxus, gazing out at the fight before us.

"Loud, isn't it," His voice filled my ears, sending chills into my chest, then leaving it to tighten and my heart to beat faster.

I nodded slowly, not daring to use my voice in fear it would break and tremble.

"You know (Y/n), every time I see you come into the guild, I always get this feeling inside. Like I need to help you," He still didn't look at me, though I surly didn't want him to.

"I don't need your help," My voice was cold, and I almost regretted saying anything. He was definitely going to hate me.

"Shut up. I know you do, that's why I'm here," He looked at me, putting his arm around me and pulling me closer to him.

At this point I could feel the tear begin to well up in my eyes, but I held them back, not wanting to cry. "You can't help me anyways. Unless you want to be sad enough to kill yourself. If so then by all means, save my soul," I heard my voice start to shake, and I began to tremble as well.

That's when he told me. He told me about what I did, what I had never wanted anyone to know. He knew things about me, things that should have made him hate my guts. Why was he here if he knew.

"(Y/n), I want you to trust me. I want you to use me to feel happy, to use your magic on me. I'm strong enough to take it. As long as you're happy, I can take it," Why. Why was he doing this. Was he insane? Was this all a joke?

"Laxus-"

"I love you (Y/n). Let me help you," I stared into his eyes, feeling the tears fall down my face.

"I-I love you too..." He pulled me into his chest, and I buried my face in his shirt, letting the tears continue to fall.

He kissed the top of my head, and for the first time in years, I felt something. Happiness. Real, genuine happiness.
