This one is for @Burgundy_wolflegend
Thank you for requesting! Enjoy. It had been like this ever since last year. That one girl never stopped. She would be there in the hallway to trip me. She would be standing over the contents of my bag, pouring glue all over them. She would be calling me names. She would be stabbing at my insecurities and rubbing salt into each bit of the wound. She would be in my mind before I fell asleep, reiterating everything I hate about myself.
She was Lucy Heartfilia, and after she thought I'd stolen her boyfriend she'd never let me be happy. I hadn't done anything, rarely even speaking to Natsu. However it was clear he had dumped her for a good reason. She was awful.
I kneeled down in front of her, grabbing the things she had knocked from my arms as quickly as I could. Levy stood next to her, but her eyes were averted from the scene. I knew she didn't mean any harm, but couldn't bring herself into the drama. I tried not to let myself forget that in my resentment.
"Excuse me," I said quickly, hurrying down the hall and out of harms way. I had grown accustomed to holding back my tears, so I was able to enter the classroom without problem.
"Alright class, please settle down," Mrs. Hartford said, smiling slightly. "We have a new student today, would you like to come in and introduce yourself?" She gestured to the door.
In came a girl with the most brilliant red hair I had ever seen. Her graceful beauty knocked the wind out of me and I felt myself blush slightly.
She came before the class and stood next to the teacher. "Hello, my name is Erza Scarlet. I hope we all get along," She said, not smiling but looking pleasant.
"Thank you Erza, you may sit there," Mrs. Heartford said as she gestured her to the empty seat in front of me.
Erza looked at me and smiled as she made her way to her desk, and I tried my best not to appear flustered.
"Okay, now please get out your books," And class continued. My focus was often brought back to the vibrant red hair that cascaded down my new classmate's shoulders.
She was stunning.
As class ended, I stood to gather my things but once again glanced at her. To my surprise our eyes locked, and she raised an eyebrow.
"Were you staring at me during class?" She asked quizzically and my heart skipped a beat.
Heat rushed to my face, and I sputtered. "N-No- Well, your hair is just so pretty," I said and smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of my neck.
She laughed, not seeming to find me strange for staring. "I see. Well if you don't mind seeing more of it, can I stick with you for today? I don't know my way around yet," She smiled. I noticed how strong her posture was, her eyes never leaving mine. She looked assertive.
"I don't mind at all!" I said, grinning from ear to ear. "Just follow me," I led her out of the room and to our next class, asking about her interests and answering whatever she asked me.
By the time it was lunch I had already memorized every detail of her face and learned all about her old life. She had just moved to town, and I was determined to make her transition easy.
"The cafeteria is this way, past the lockers. Are you buying lunch or did you bring something?" I asked, spinning the dial on my lock.
She trailed her finger over the numbers on each locker, eyebrows twisted in concentration. Then she stopped six lockers down from me and started to spin the dial. "I packed my own," She said as she pulled out a bento box.
I pulled out a similar one and opened it, smelling the aroma of the food I had put together. "I love my mom's cooking."
"You should taste mine. I usually make my own food," She said as we walked into the bustling lunch room.
"Really? Wow, you must be a good cook," I said eyes trained on her box. We sat down at an empty table and she opened her food.
Her lunch consisted of a slice of strawberry cake.
"You have cake for lunch?" I laughed, but stopped when I saw the look she was giving me.
"Yes."
"Hm, well it looks good," I sweat dropped.

The next week I skillfully avoided Lucy while getting to know Erza. She made my heart light, and when she laughed my chest tightened. I hadn't had so much fun in a long time, and I was so happy to have her as a friend.
"(Y/n), there you are," Erza called, walking towards me.
"Hey, good morning," I smiled at her, and we started walking to class.
As I rounded a corner I tripped over something. My head hit the tile and a groan escaped my lips.
"Oh, I didn't see you there (Y/n). You looked so much like all the other trash I didn't realize it was you," Lucy said, arms crossed.
"Watch were your going next time," Erza said sharply, eyeing the blonde.
I rubbed my chin and stood up, looking at my feet. I bit the inside of my mouth to quell my tears.
"Who's your friend (Y/n)? Did you have to bribe her to hang out with you? Pathetic," She sneered, glaring at me.
"My name is Erza, and no she did not bribe me to be her friend," She snapped, crossing her arms over her chest.
"What'd she pay you to say that? All you'll ever be is a bitch (Y/n), and no fake friends can make you any better. I know what you really are. Filthy trash. Go kill yourself you waste of space," She growled, fury in her eyes.
I suppressed a whimper and turned to run. Tears pricked the corners of my eyes but I held them back.
"You watch your mouth! The only waste of space is your disrespectful lying mouth, so shut it," Erza said darkly, grabbing Lucy by the collar.
Her eyes widened in shock, and when she was let go of she hurried down the hall in the opposite direction.
"Erza... You'll get in trouble for that..." I said quietly, wringing my hands together.
"She can't treat you like that," She replied firmly.
"Well she does, and retaliating will only make it worse..." I replied, begging her to stop before she regretted it.
"So you just let her say those things to you?" My shoulders sagged in shame, and that was enough answer for her. "I won't let her."
"But Erza-" I started, but she cut me off.
"I won't stand to see someone I care about be treated like that," She said, a fierce fire raging in her eyes.
My heart fluttered slightly.
"She's wrong about you. You're an amazing person and don't you dare believe otherwise," She said daringly, staring into my eyes.
I felt my cheeks flush.
I felt my chest tighten.
This was love.
