Ashton's POV;
I figured I should follow Marie home, just to make sure she was okay.

Okay I'm not a stalker, but I just wanted to make sure she was safe. I just moved here and where I come from we protect and respect our women so you could say it was in my blood.

A walked a safe distance behind Marie. She went into her house. As I crept up the driveway I noticed the recycling bin. Again. Now there was more than just beer bottles, now there was heavier alcoholic drinks. This only made me more worried. I popped my eyes just above the window sill. What I saw took my breath away. Marie was being held up against the wall with someone, holding her neck in his hand. I knew I had to step in.

I tried the front door but again it was locked. But this time the back door was locked as well. My last option was to break something. I held my breath as I propelled my elbow into the window. The glass shattered and I felt shards of it dig into my skin. But that pain was the last thing I was thinking about. I rushed to the scene of the terrible strangling.

"Hey! Put her down!" I bellowed, trying to make my voice as deep as I could.

The boy spun around.

"And who do you think you are?" He growled at me, wobbling in his step, there was something wrong with him. I realized he was stoned. Drunk through and through. This couldn't be a good situation.

"I said put her down." I said through clenched teeth, but trembling on the inside.

"Who do you think you are?"

"That doesn't matter right now. Put Marie down or I will hurt you." I knew I could probably hurt him, but I didn't want it to come to that.

With that he turned away from me and back to Marie. He tightened his grip around her throat. Her face was turning purple, and I knew this was my time to act. I rushed at the kid and broke his grip of Marie's throat. She fell to the floor, but I wasn't done with the boy. I landed on top him and punched him square in the face. He instantly blacked out.

I rushed over to Marie. She lay there, lifeless. I prayed for the best. As I had done in times before I picked her up and rushed to the car.

*****Four Hours Later*****

Marie's POV;
I woke up with bright white lights shining in my eyes. I blinked rapidly, and heard a deep voice.

"Patient is waking up. Please bring fluid cart number four."

I couldn't figure it out. Fluid cart? Where was I? Suddenly I became aware of a strong smell. It was familiar. The hospital. That's where I was. What am I doing here? The last thing I remember was Mitchell getting home completely drunk and him coming after me. But who brought me here? Was it that Ashton kid? I have so many questions!
