Ashton's POV;
She hung up on him. I felt I smile creep upon my face. But my mood was quickly dampened. Once someone bailed Mitchell out of jail, he was coming straight for Marie. I turned my head and glanced at her.
She was sitting on the hospital bed with her legs straight out. She looked so sorrowful. She was pale and a worried look was constantly plastered on her face. To be honest I was worried for her. She had head injuries so the last thing she needed was the fright of her brother coming back to take her home. I had already made up in my mind that I wasn't letting Marie out of my sight until I was confident that she was safe. I opened my mouth to break the silence,
"Hey, you okay?"
She nodded but I wasn't convinced.
"Marie, I can see right through you. Don't worry I won't let him get you."
"But Ashton, how do you know? How do you know that you're gonna be able to stop him? When he's drunk, he's a monster. I don't want you getting hurt."
"Marie, trust me, have faith in me."
With that I quieted down to let her process everything. Would she accept me? Or would she try to protect me and shove me out of her life?
Marie's POV;
Was Ashton really willing to protect me from Mitchell? I didn't want to get my hopes up because from an early age I was always let down. I knew what I needed to do. I pulled out my phone again.......
Ashton's POV;
She had an intense look on her face. I could tell she debating over something in her mind. She moved her hand and reached for the phone. Fear struck my heart. Was she going to try and call Mitchell and forgive him? I couldn't let that happen, at least not now. Mitchell need to think and so did Marie. But I didn't want to scare her, so I helplessly watched on as she dialed the phone.
