Chapter 8

Kai watched as Mello and Kenny drove away, she couldn't help but to break down. She was in love with Mello and he knew that, so the fact that he would cheat on her hurt her to the very core. She sat there on the floor in front of her door crying for hours not knowing what to do with herself. When she finally got the energy she walked upstairs and into her bathroom. She knew her face was going to be red from all the crying and her eyes would be puffy, so she grabbed a rag and wet it with cold water. She looked at herself in the mirror and shook her head

"Why do I let him do this to me?" she thought to herself

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing. She looked at the screen and saw it was Dez, probably calling to see what happened.

"Hello" Kai said sniffling

"Hey I heard about hat happened...you ok?" Dez asked concerned about her friend

"No Dez, im falling the fuck apart! How could he do this shit to me? was it something I did or didn't do?" Kai asked not really looking for an answer

"Now you know it wasn't shit you did Kai, You know how his type is. They don't know the first thing about being in a relationship, you gotta let them fuck up a few times before they get it right. What you need to do is call him and make up" Dez said while painting her nails

Kai rolled her eyes at the stupidity that just came out her friends mouth

"yeah I hear what you sayin" she said annoyed

"Tell you what, ima come over tomorrow and bring you some lunch then we can go to the mall or something." Dez said not giving Kai a chance to object

Kai didn't feel like going to the Mall or anywhere for that matter. She just wanted to sit in the house and watch lifetime movies all day, she wanted to feel sorry for herself because she knew no one else would. It was times like this when she missed her dad the most.

2 Weeks Later

Kai sat with Kinuko and talked while they were waiting for their food at one of Kai's favorite resturant's Roosters.

"When was the last time you talked to your mom?" Kinuko asked stuffing her mouth with curly fries

The question took Kai back, she hadn't talked to or seen her mom in month's

"Not for a while why?" Kai asked taking a sip of her Shirley temple

"I was just thinking, you should go talk to her and make things right with her." Kinuko tried to reason

"Ki I can't. It's like she turned into a completely different person since my dad died, fuck her. Shit sometimes I wish I didn't have a mom" Kai said

She thought about what she had just said and who she said it to and instantly felt bad

"Kinuko im sorry"

"Listen Kai, I know she may not be the mom you want but she's the mom you got! She was there for you when you went to prom, and homecomings, and when you couldn't sleep. She bought you pads when you started your cycle for the first time, you know what I got when I started my period? A rag and Midol. I would give anything for my mom to be here right now so I can argue with her or go to her when im having life problems instead of trying to figure this shit out on my own!" Kinuko said pulling out her wallet, placing a $20 bill on the table and walking away

Kai did the same thing and followed her

"Kinuko you know I didn't mean it like th-" Kai was interrupted by vomit filling her throat she tried to swallow it but it was to late, she threw up all the contents of her lunch in the parking lot.
